What People Are Saying About Santorini

In Short – You'd swear you were in Greece, except for the large fireplace that fills in for an ocean view. Whitewashed walls are decorated with baskets and copper pans, while bouzouki music plays in the background. Traditional Greek favorites include charcoal-grilled octopus and calamari, vegetarian moussaka and whole black sea bass. Lamb lovers should visit Thursday or Sunday, when the specials include barbecued lamb--it's slow-cooked, falling off the bone, and served with lemon-oregano potatoes.
Editor's Tips
- What to Drink:
- Retsina (a pine resin-flavored white wine) is the authentic accompaniment to homestyle Greek dishes. It's an acquired taste; so try a glass before ordering a full bottle.
- Save Money:
- If you're dining with a group of eight or more people, consider the family-style meals, which offer three or four courses ($17.95-$36 per person, depending on selections).

Great Greek!

This place was fabulous! Grilled Octopus apptitizer was the best I've had and the belini's are great too. Nice warm place to go over the winter months. Very cozy. The service is wonderful and very knowledgeable.
Great seafood & service

This new Greektown restaurant (great decor, warm setting) has a nice menu and even nicer service. Portions are very large, and they're great about sharing plates!
- Pros: seafood, service, quality, portions
- Cons: entrees can get spendy
Excellent experience!

My first time dining at Santorini was at a company holiday party. At first I was not very thrilled because I am not a seafood lover and they are famous for their seafood selection. I ordered the Chicken Halsted not expecting much. I could not have been more wrong! The combination of chicken, alfredo sauce and past was incredible! I definitely did not expect this from a Greek restaurant but now I know better. I will definitely be going back soon!
- Pros: Food selection & service!

When one makes a reservation for 8:00 PM one does not expect to wait until 9:15 PM to be seated. Indeed, it would have been better had the Maitre' D advised us of the wait upon checking in rather than stringing us along for the hour and fifteen minutes. We could have gone to any number of other restaurants and been more welcomed and found cuisine as good or better.
Having set a rather negative tone to the evening the entrees varied from excellent to just ok. See bass ranked up there with the best we've had. Shrimp scampi was good, shrimp Santorini was really nothing but a modified Scampi smothered, and we mean smothered, in parmesan cheese...yuk.
For the money we paid, and it was a lot, we would have expected a lot more.
In summary, there are better places to spend your cash.
Greek dinner on St. Patrick's Day a great choice
by mbwsbend at Citysearch
Went to dinner on St. Patrick's and had a great time. We arrived 25 minutes early for our reservation, escorted to small bar and the bartender created a green martini concoction, it was great. We barely got the drinks and were seated at a table. We tried the grilled octopus, it was very good. I had the shrimp santorini-the shrimp were very large and the garlic/oils were fabulous. My date tried the sea bass, our waiter filets the fish tableside. It was very nicely prepared. We enjoyed a bottle of greek red wine. Our waiter, who was from Bulgaria, was very engaging and treated us to a complimentary drink at the end of the meal. The host who greeted us at the front door came up to us several times to ask how our meals were, and sent us off very warmly.
