view & uploadPeggy Notebaert Nature Museum is a must-see for the greenie. Featuring nature in all its forms, PNNM is known for its butterfly exhibit and interactive exhibits. Small, but beautiful, this museum is an afternoon of fun exhibits that feature nature and the environment. PNNM participates in the Green Museum Initiative.

There's a lot here to appeal to kids, including a backyard creatures exhibit, but adults will appreciate a visit to the butterfly haven.

The butterfly greenhouse is one of my favorite places during the cold cold winter. It's warm, filled with plants and a great place to let a butterfly land on your shoulder.
Butterfly Haven. I would suggest going and then if you like it you can convert that day's admission fee into a yearly membership. I have a family membership for a year. It is very kid friendly as a small nature museum, and I just love hanging out for a little in the butterfly haven. The waterfall and butterflies and warm humidity and now the tiny tropical birds make for a very pleasant break from daily life. Plus it's right by the North Pond which is an actual pond with a nice trail around it, so if you are a member you get to come in and use the bathroom in between walking around North Pond.
A sanctuary in the city, this museum invites visitors to learn about and appreciate nature..
In Short
Nestled in the heart of Lincoln Park, this museum offers views of Lake Michigan, Chicago's skyline and North Pond. Exhibits and programming change with the seasons, so there's always something new to discover.
Great little place to visit!. Wonderful small musuem featuring interactive, engaging exhibits on rainwater run-off, germs, and other topics that appeal to a broad age-range. Large, live butterfly house and rooftop garden exhibit make this a good destination for anyone visting Chicago with children who have a few hours to spare. The musuem has a small on-site cafe, and is conveniently located next to the Lincoln Park Zoo.
