Cozy bar and seafood-focused sandwich shop fills with laid-back Lincoln Parkers.. In Short
Bargain seafood attracts a loyal local following to this casual hangout. Crab cakes are a great way to start off, slathered with zesty Creole tartar sauce. Or try peppery seared tuna in corn taco shells, delicious with squeezed lime. Shrimp po' boy overflows with plump sauteed shrimp; and thick burgers are draped with melted cheese. Beer-battered fries complement perfectly.

Top 5 Neighboorhood Bar/Restaurant - Hands Down. The Local Option sort of reminds me of Toon's on Southport - sans the shuffleboard table but plus excellent food and an actual beer selection. If I lived any closer to this neighborhood j0int, my waistline would be in even more trouble than it is. The Local Option serves delicious burgers/sandwiches, great Cajun style seafood (yes, seafood) dishes, even better french fries (I will rarely compliment a restaurant's french fries), and an extensive beer selection (I counted over 60 different drafts/bottles to choose from).

The jukebox was down but Hendrix was played for the half full crowd that was looking to unwind in a chill atmosphere on a Wednesday night. Perfect!

Above Average Bar Food and Friendly Environment. This is a place we always go back to. They have some interesting beers, a great atmosphere and a creole inspired bar menu. The steak tacos are amazing but they have some really good salads as well for those who want to eat on the healthy side.

Burger Heaven. Hands down, the Local Option serves the best burger in all of Chicago, and I'm compairing it to all the over priced steak houses I've eaten at in the city. I highly recomend you go in and taste it. You will not be sorry.

Their fries are fantastic as well.

A great local option. My friend and I went there on a weekday for some beer and bar food. The Gumbo was amazing and he had the shrimp po-boy. All of the food was great and the server was attentive. And when the credit card machine went down and we had to get cash from the ATM he took one of the beers off of our tap to make up for the inconvience. Overall the place was great and the food was top notch.

For kids only. This place has lots its character...its really sad.

Here is my old review from 3 years ago below:

Its nice to see the professors from depaul coming over here for a few drinks...I love the place, the staff are incredibly friendly, the food is unique, and it has a character all to its own. (oh, this seems like a place for adults...so no little ones...they have their own place to go down the street). Otherwise, come for ADULT conversation, laid back atmosphere, and great food.
