Editorial Review for Glascott's Groggery – by Jennifer Olvera
The Scene
Owned and operated by fourth-generation Glascotts, this tavern features tin ceilings, a hand-carved bar, vintage family portraits and Chicago photographs. Though the spot used to mostly cater to working-class Irish, the crowd now ranges from weekend warriors to a steady flow of DePaul regulars, who appreciate the pool tables and timely tunes.
The Draw
Eighteen taps (especially ones yielding excellent Guinness and "black and tan" pours) and almost as many bottles satisfy casual drinkers. Sophisticated types sip Gragganmore scotch, rocks or neat, though the pub also boasts a popular and fun house drink with Stoli raspberry, Red Bull and a splash of cranberry. Occasional live music usually means bagpipers, but average audio fare ranges from the Allman Brothers to Digable Planets. No food is served, so if you're hungry, grab a bite nearby before or after.

I recently attended a party at this bar's backroom and it was great. Awesome service and plenty of space. Not to mention good times followed after the party was over in the front bar.
