In Short
This low-lit restaurant displays memorabilia of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins and their coach (now restaurateur) Don Shula. The show-and-tell platter showcases seven cuts of beef, plus vegetables and lobster. The steak tartare appetizer is served with anchovies, chives and rye rounds. Shula's signature cut is the 48-ounce porterhouse; lamb, chicken and fish round out the menu. Desserts include red-velvet cake.

My husband, then fiance, took me out to Shula's for my birthday. As an avid sports fan he had heard about its origination and was excited to give it a try. I very much enjoyed the etiquette of the waitstaff and the fine dining atmosphere in general. My dinner started out with the bbq shrimp appetizer, for the main course I had the filet with a side of broccoli. My husband and I both had one drink and he also had a filet for dinner. Our total bill was about 200 with over a 20% tip. It was an excellent meal and an ejoyable experience. A little pricy, but if you can afford it, it is well worth it.

This past Friday my boyfriend and I were in the mood for a steak and decided to give Shula's a try. After being greeted at the door we asked if they had any openings since we had not made reservations. We were told that the only seating available was in the bar although many tables remained open the whole time we were there. We got to high boy table and waited for about 10 minutes before a server came by. He wasn't very welcoming. We were never offered bread nor a presentation of the meats. We asked for reccomendations on appetizers and were told to try the lobster bisque. We did, and it was awful. We had a filet and asparagus for our meal. We ordered the steak medium well and it came medium (but we were too hungry to send it back). Our waiter was not very attentive nor was he very talkative. Since we shared our meal, we thought our bill would be faily inexpensive. It was $150!!! We did order some alcoholic drinks, my glasses of wine were $18 each (even though the menu said $12). The meal nor the service was worth the price we paid. It's doubtful that we'd go back
Pros: decent steak
Cons: Cold inattentive service
