Vacationers and business travelers are drawn to the romantic touches and modern amenities of this historic Loop hotel.. The Scene
Housed in the refurbished, 105-year-old Reliance Building (once home to Carson Pirie Scott), the hotel oozes yesteryear charm, from metal elevator grills and marble walls to Florentine glass on office-turned-guest-room doors--many of which still have their original mail slots. The tiny lobby feels more like an intimate study, with crimson and animal-print furniture, mahogany walls and a marble fireplace. The hotel takes its name from famed Chicago architect Daniel Burnham.

The Details
The 122 guest rooms (19 suites) feature indigo velvet headboards, regal gold walls, musical notes of Mozart on the curtains and cherubs on the bedspreads. Indeed, angels appear throughout the hotel and are meant to inspire romance. The minibar is stocked with Chicago-themed munchies like Wrigley's gum and Cracker Jacks. Other amenities include 24-hour room service, a pet-friendly policy, a fully equipped fitness room and a complimentary evening wine service in the lobby.

Wonderful, all around. Stayed Nov 7-10 04 for business. The staff was incredible, Al, the valet was friendly, and helpful. Parking was a breeze if you use the hotel parking. The rooms are very classy and romantic, although a bit small, but I expected that from a boutique hotel. The in room CD was a nice touch, and I bought it on the way out.

The conceirge was extremely helpful and felt like a friend to me. The restaurant bar was quite small, but had a wonderful bartender, Doug. Ask for him.

The location was mixed. A cab to mag. mile., but close to other things. Overall I have nothing negative to say.

Wonderful Experience!. My husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend for our 2nd anniversary and after reading all the reviews decided to stay at Hotel Burnham. We had such a great experience with the hotel!!! They had a bottle of champange and chocolates in our room. The service the entire weekend was incredible. The concierge was extremely helpful in making reservations for dinner and massages. Checking in and out was a breeze and took only minutes. Our room was beautiful with a great view. We stayed in a suite and I highly recommed it. I got a complimentary yoga basket which included a sticky mat, block and strap. Food at the Atwood Cafe was great. We will never stay anywhere else when we visit Chicago again!

Beyond Expectation!. While I knew from their website that this hotel would be a beautiful vintage building, I was still very impressed by the quality of the retoration. The marble walls and ceilings, the cast-iron stairwells, the spacious and beautifully appointed rooms were beyond what I'd expected. The service was also stellar, the hotel restaurant/lounge was very good, and all in all, I'd never stay anywhere else in Chi-Town now that I've been at the Burnham.
