Middle Eastern meets modern in this stylish River North space, where copper-plated tables, hypnotic sitar music and a decor rich with red, blue and gold set an exotic mood. Tizi Melloul's Mediterranean menu starts with tempting appetizers like fire-roasted mussels with warm harissa butter. Entrees range from grilled lamb loin with artichokes and fava beans to marinated duck breast with lentils and applewood bacon. Black-clad beauties linger in the cool white bar and lounge area; diners sit at tables in the dark, blood-red dining room or on pillows in the funky Crescent Room, a festive communal dining area where you bathe your hands in rose water before eating a traditional five-course Mediterranean feast.

I have actually only been here for drinks and socializing after hours so I can't comment on the food, but it's a cool place to hang out. The decor is just lovely.

When you step into this restaurant, its like you're walking into another world. The decor reminds me of arabian nights. As for food, their stews are fantastic on those cold winter days.

The dinner we had was great! The flavors exploded in your mouth! I didn't expect this from Tizi, I have been here in the past (4 years ago)and was skeptical to come back--boy am I glad I did! The service was ok but the food and atmosphere will bring me back!!!

Where to Sit:
The circular, sapphire blue Crescent Room is available for parties and features a five-course family-style feast for $30 per person.
Save Money:
On Mondays and Tuesdays, take advantage of the $3 appetizers and $3 martinis deal in the bar and lounge area. On Sundays, enjoy unlimited house wines for $25 and belly dance performances at 7pm and 8pm.
The Extras:
Relax in the lounge with a hookah with monthly changing tobacco flavors like strawberry, apple and rose. Bowls cost $15; on Tuesdays, get a bowl and a cocktail for $10 per person.
Save Money:
