The owners of a Chicago antique shop decided to start serving sandwiches to their customers in 1977--and it ended up taking over the business. As the restaurant expanded, natural woods and antique fixtures were used to re-create the signature, old-time country store look at every location. The warm, fresh-roll sandwiches share this classic character--from roast beef and provolone to the Wreck (salami, roast beef, turkey, ham and Swiss). Malts, shakes, root beer floats and homemade ice cream sandwiches complete the throwback.

DANG, these are good!!!!. This is by far, THE greatest sandwich in the U.S. I am not quite sure what it is about them, but when I fly hicago's Midway airport it becomes my "mission" to run of the aiplane between flights just to grab that wonderful Italian sandwich. Not sure how to explain why these subs are better than anywhere else. Maybe it is the qualit of the ingredients. About 4 different kinds of Italian meats, provolone cheese, mayo and mustard, dressed with extra, extra pickles. There is something about their pickle, I think they are home made. My only complaint....the sandwich is to darn small! Also, the folks there are so dang chipper! I love it. Do not miss this place if you are in Chi Town! ENJOY!!
