The Scene
Tourists, conventioneers, college students and clubbers looking for a wild night head to Bar Chicago, a second-floor club with a post-collegiate anti-style that fits right in with other Rush-and-Division bars. Ritualized, unrestrained outrageousness is practiced nightly and encouraged by the regulars and staff.

The Draw
Besides shot ceremonies for the whole house, another tradition is that women are encouraged to shake it atop the bar--and make no mistake, they do. If at least a dozen aren't working it up there, this place is still just warming up. Populist DJing from a central booth means dancers can sing along with "Come On Eileen" or bump to lascivious dance-floor classics like "Baby Got Back." There's no draft beer, but the full bar serves 10 bottled varieties, plus all the popular cocktails.

I had a fun time when i went to Bar Chicago. Of course when your in the city drinks are going to be expensive so keep in mind of that. The bar isn't as big as i though so its just minimal seating and a large dance floor. It was crowded and women don't pay cover till 11 and for guys that night was 7 bucks. Its located on a street with a lot of bars so it was fun walk around and experience it all. They had a midget who walked around on the bar and rode a tricycle around. Full of baccalaureate parties and others like that. Age was a varied mixture but more on the older side with creepy men who tried hitting on us. Overall its a good bar to start the night and then move on to the other ones.

BAR is a great place to go for something different. From the clientel, which ranges from the young twenties to the young-at-heart fifty-somethings and yes some suburbanites and tourists, and the complete variety of music, everyone is satisfied. Of course you are not going to like it if you are going out for a $15 specialty martini and want to lounge around, see and be seen,,,that's not what bar is all about. Its about leaving the attitude at the door and having a great time. The staff is great looking and is one of the friendliest I have encountered in Chicago. They are there to make sure you have a great time and I have never been disappointed. I highly recommend BAR Chicago to anyone who just wants to have a good time without the frills... and by the way, the bathroom attendants are great! They are not trying to be trendy, they are there to make sure you are taken care of.

This bar is just for tourists and college kids (or those who never went to college). For those of you who have gotten binge drinking out of your system, avoid this joint at all costs.
