Phil Stefani's 437 Rush

Where everyone feels like a regular

  • Impeccable Service
  • Innovative Italian Cuisine
  • Bar Specials Every Night

437 Rush truly echoes the feel of a classic Italian steakhouse. The design's intent, by architect Randy Pruyn, was not to recreate Riccardo's, but to bring back the spirit of when the restaurant was in its prime.

The restaurant shines through the use of rich mahogany colored flooring and wainscots, black-and white-tiled floors, stainless steel railings and ribbed glass partitions. The décor package highlights the neighborhood's strong newspaper and advertising ties. The finale is the energetic mural that hangs above the original Riccardo's bar. The main dining room features items, including prime steaks and chops, succulent lobster tails and enticing pasta specialties.

From succulent chops and mouth-watering seafood dishes to fabulous risottos and pastas, executive chef Federico Commacchio from Milan creates the most artistic and delicious dishes in the city.

Editorial Review for Phil Stefani's 437 Rush – by J.P. Anderson

The Scene
This place oozes old-school country-club ambience, with white-coated servers and bathroom attendants, black-and-white tile floors and rich mahogany walls with framed photos of past Chicago luminaries. A swanky jazz soundtrack mingles with the soft conversational buzz of a 30-something white-collar crowd. Service is excellent.

The Food
Juicy steaks, mammoth lobster tails and the like, served a la carte and priced accordingly, plus a smattering of salads and pasta dishes. Impossibly creamy lobster bisque hides tender chunks of lobster meat; whole romaine leaves are served as a classic, clean Caesar salad; Kansas City strip is as tender as the server claims. Topped with lemon yogurt, the pear tart makes a mouth-puckeringly delightful dessert.

I love this place. Chicago is a steak town, and this restaurant helps to set the standard. I've been to pretty much every steakhouse in Chicago, and the suburbs. Read on to see how it rates in my estimation. You expect a good steak in Chicago. That's a given. Stefani's delivers. Here is what I like. The rest of the menu provides you a great dining experience. I had a cup of the lobster bisque to start off. Incredibly rich. Onto the main course. My filet was prepared perfectly. I like it medium rare and it was very tender. A little bernaise sauce on the side and you should be good to go! My girlfriend and I split a side of the mashed potatoes. Highly recommend them. Have them every time I come regardless of my entree order. Service is top notch. The bar area when you enter is open and promotes good conversation. If you haven't been, I highly recommend Phil Stefani's!! I think it's one of the top 3 steakhouses in Chicago.
