The Scene – This place oozes old-school country-club ambience, with white-coated servers and bathroom attendants, black-and-white tile floors and rich mahogany walls with framed photos of past Chicago luminaries. A swanky jazz soundtrack mingles with the soft conversational buzz of a 30-something white-collar crowd. Service is excellent. – – The Food – Juicy steaks, mammoth lobster tails and the like, served a la carte and priced accordingly, plus a smattering of salads and pasta dishes. Impossibly creamy lobster bisque hides tender chunks of lobster meat; whole…

Love it!

by bmb1574 at Citysearch

Went here with a friend and the only negative we found was whlie she was waiting for me to arrive, the bartender was "extremely" rude to her. So much so that she let the hostess know and I believe the comment was "we hear that a lot". BUT everything else was GREAT!!! Our server was great, and the food was unbelieveable!

Worst Experiance at a Steakhouse

by LeighE2002 at Citysearch

I was really excited to go to this steakhouse to celebrate my new job with my husband. We have been to some of the best steakhouses in New York and LA and wanted to go to this place, because we heard good things about it. The waitress was wonderful, but when we got our steaks ($52 and ordered them medium rare) they were very overdone.... Not even the slightest amount of pink in the center. We very politely sent them back to be redone (since they were so expensive!). Not a minute later, the owner, the chef and the waitress came over to our table to tell us the lighting was bad and the steaks were actually done perfectly ( they en flicked a lighter next to the steaks to show us the center). Since both the color and flavor were very off and the demonstration proved nothing, we asked once again asked that they bring us new steaks. They obliged, but when the new steaks came out, they were frozen to the touch. We could actually feel ice in the middle. When we got upset and just said to take them off of the bill, the owner yelled at us and said that the first steaks were perfectly and we obviously did not know what we were talking about. We were so upset we just wanted to pay the bill and leave. Not only did we have a horrible meal, but we were insulted by the way we were treated by the owner. We will never have a meal at this place again.

Traveling into Chicago looking for Steak from the net

by Traveler from MI at Citysearch

The waiter/greeter at the front ignored us and talked to the previous customers then chased her down outside because she forgot her scarf, he did say he'd be back. The next greeter thought we were taken care of so we stood there. The other girl behind the counter said he'd be right back. The 2nd guy ended up seating us. The scarf chaser came back later and sang opera to another table while we were waiting on the food. I overheard that the people at the table behind us returned to the same table with the same waitress, so they must have liked it. The waitress came around with rack of meat trays but missed our table we looked onto the table next to us. Bf got the $41 steak "it was good, but it wasn't spectacular, it was good", I had the chicken, it was moist, I liked the sauce, the staff refilled your water before you even had 4 sips of it. The dessert was great, we shared it and was worth the price. The bathrooms were nice, and had a sliding door almost an old phone booth cubby in the middle of it. My bf forgot his credit card and they put it in the safe, thank gosh he realized before we left Chicago.

  • Pros: Filling portions, great dessert!

Outstanding Service and Unique Atmosphere Gets Three Thumbs Up

Located where the name suggests, 437 Rush (at Hubbard) is Phil Stefani's classic Italian steakhouse featuring everything from an exceptional lobster bisque to succulent prime steak chops. While the food is outstanding here, nothing beat the service of the bartender, Brian, during my visit. Friendly, knowledgeable and overall entertaining, he made my overall experience enjoyable and memorable. I highly recommend spending a happy hour, night out with friends, family dinner, or even a group event at 437 Rush. Ask for Brian and you won't regret it!
