What People Are Saying About Tantrum

The Scene – Rather than the kicking and screaming you might expect, Tantrum is a place for the adult in you, offering a soft-glow refuge from the surrounding cold, hard city streets. A stylish and sprawling mahogany bar attracts after-work yuppies, while lavish couches provide pleasant conversational areas. Tantrum is banking on those pioneers looking to get more bang for their buck in the condo-booming area of South Loop, but there isn't much of a neighborhood to speak of yet. Although not a destination spot, Tantrum's gutsy arrival is sure to appeal to the growing number of residents…

Worst Martini bar in South Loop PT2

by boomstickash

The tantrum from last year is gone. The new management have successfully made this place the worst lounge in south loop. I asked if there was a food menu, and the manager(not the bartender) gave me a rude answer and a sarcastic look as if I was stupid. I then paid for my "Completely overpriced martini," which I felt I could make a better martini than their bartender. Skip this place. There are so many better bar/lounges with a friendlier atmosphere.

  • Cons: horrible management, overpriced drinks, ugly decor

Worst Martini Lounge in the South Loop

by JohnDeer69

The bartenders are horrible, drinks are overpriced, and seems the management and the staff a few years back that made this place rock are gone...

What a waste

Very Chill

by megoops

I was excited when this place first opened in my neighborhood (South Loop) because there aren't many trendy nightlife options around there, and I was a bit dissapointed when Tantrum wasn't the crazy nightlife scene I had envisioned it to be. However, I came to like how the place ended up being. It's a small cozy little place to grab a drink before you're headed somewhere or after you've come from someplace. Definitely don't expect this place to be a seen-and-be-seen spot- I guess that was never their intention.

Basically, Tantrum still retains a hip atmosphere without trying too hard. It's actually a nice, chill alternative to the sweaty, over-crowded bump n'grind lounges and clubs that most places turn out to be. I'm not a huge martini fan, but I tried a couple and they're pretty good.

  • Pros: Lounge-like, laidback atmosphere
  • Cons: Not a lot of people
