Editorial Review for Lincoln Park – by Kristopher Kaiyala
Overview
More than 150 years old, the park contains the country's oldest public free zoo (Lincoln Park Zoo) and the world-renowned Lincoln Park Conservatory, home to hundreds of exotic tropical and fern species, as well as popular seasonal flower shows.
The Background
Much of the park's 1,200 acres is the result of ambitious landfill projects, which allowed park engineers to create specially designed harbors, lagoons, fishing piers, boat launches, access roads, promontories and more. The landfill also allowed for the creation of Lake Shore Drive, the backbone of Lincoln Park. In addition to the popular lakefront path, there are play fields, courts and trails abound, devoted to almost every form of outdoor recreation, including softball, soccer, tennis, basketball, golf, cycling, running, rowing and inline skating.

The ExtrasThe popular foot-powered vessels operate during summer months on South Pond near Cafe Brauer (Stockton and Armitage avenues).
Where to SitVisit the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, a tribute to the natural ecology of the Midwest. The pool is located south of Fullerton, north of the zoo.

Lincoln Park is a great place to visit and a step out of the norm from Michigan Avenue. I must agree though with the other ratings. It is just too crowded in the summer.
Pros: Beautiful place to visit always something to do.
Cons: Too crowded.

There are just too many yuppies and their suv's in this park...the parking is next to impossible.
Pros: Lake front, trees
Cons: Too many people!, Too many suv's!, Too many yuppies!
