The Scene
Sound kinda bizarre? It is kinda bizarre. But thankfully, Ahlgrim & Sons funeral parlor is also respectful of the dead--groups play only when the place is funeral-free. Not for the easily spooked, this course has spirit like no other. The silly, tongue-in-cheek hole designs--built mostly by Roger Ahlgrim, the mastermind behind this 35-year-old creep-course--include a skull and bones, a graveyard with tiny headstones with names of each funeral employee, a haunted house, a castle with a guillotine entrance, and, yes, a coffin on Hole No. 2. Ahlgrim's mini-golf has appeared in Golf Digest, Sports Illustrated, Business Week and other intrigued publications. "Ripley's Believe It or Not" plans on stopping by soon too.
Facts
It's all free, but book ahead because apparently funeral parlor mini-golf is quite popular. Just make sure you have a backup plan: Golfing takes a back seat to funerals, and Ahlgrim's hosts 300 of them annually.
