The Venue – In the back of a building and down a few steps, this theater is in a part of River West that's quiet save for a few pioneering condo buildings. Its brand-spanking new interior (including gleaming restrooms) makes up for a lack of surrounding atmosphere--and food options. Low ceilings, brick walls and dark, patterned carpeting create a moody, even clubby feel. A hip, art-deco-style bar serves a full variety. The 350-seat mainstage is a comfortable space, with see-from-anywhere seating. The stage is only about 6 inches off the floor, bringing the actors even closer to the…
Great comedy with cheap drinks

I saw Mission Improvable a few weeks ago and it was really funny. Not like most improv in chicago where they seem to be starving for attention and trying way too hard, this show had a good structure to make it seem more like a professional show then some guys shooting off random lines. They kept it flowing and always side-splitting. The bartenders and waitstaff were really nice too and they had really cheap drinks (buckets of beer and cocktails). There was a good thai place across the street where we ate before the show, which was great because with the drink specials you find yourself able to afford more than a usual night out. A great time with friends!
- Pros: Really nice place, funny shows, cheap drinks, friendly staff
- Cons: A bit out of the way/kinda random location
The new kings of Chicago
by bluegrass02 at Citysearch
There is a new tradition in Chicago theatre and that's the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts. With shows ranging from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to My Fair Lady, Scapin and Miracle on 34th Street, this theater never fails to put out the best. The lobby bar is simply amazing and the uniformed ushers even take drink orders! With 2 more theaters, a restaurant and a cabaret in construction, this theater stands to be the new king in Chicago.
- Pros: great staff, bar, wonderful show

This place is a sure bet for anyone looking for a great atmosphere and great shows with a little something extra. The lounge is better then any in Chicago and the staff was wonderful. The ushers even got our drinks for us!!! Nowhere else in Chicago will you get service like that, at least not in any theater I have been to. The show was one of the best I've seen and I guarantee anyone who goes to the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts will give them a 10+ rating!
- Pros: lounge, friendly staff, good drinks
