Editorial Review for Paje – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
A lime-green bar and burnt-red sign jump out from exposed-brick walls in the bi-level dining room. Stand-up comics sometimes take the stage between vocal acts. Otherwise, smooth R&B is turned way up, inspiring step dancing from diners between courses. The menu is Southern, and most dishes are deep-fried or smothered in gravy. Watch for jerk chicken wings, char-grilled catfish with angel hair pasta or cinnamon-crusted sweet-potato cheesecake.

The food was great! I understand that the worst days are Friday & Saturday evenings. This was my first time going & I am telling ALL of my friends. I live in the south suburbs & the only soul food restaurant that everyone talks about is Dustys. "Paje can put Dustys out of business. My friend & I went on a Sunday afternoon - the only downside was that the restaurant doesnt open up until 3:00 p.m. We got to pick any seat we wanted & our waitress was very caring to our needs. The portions were more than enough & they even have RED kool-aid. I will be returning.

Pros: Portions was more than enough

Cons: Resturant doesn't open until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday; Parking

My girlfriends said I had to hang out one last time before I had my son, so at 7 months with child they take me to Paje'. I in fact had a wonderful time because it was the best of both worlds in one place. The only down side is being pregnant I was ready to eat and they were not ready to serve, we waited 2 hours to be seated and just about another two for our food to come some of which never did arrive. I would go back but only on a full stomach.

Pros: tasty food, nice crowd, good flava

Cons: SLOOOOOOOW service!
