Ours Editorial Review
In Short
Upon first listen, you might think Jeff Buckley has returned from the grave. The voice of Ours, however, belongs to Jimmy Gnecco. Shifting from falsetto to howls in a flash amid arena-sized guitar rock, Gnecco hits all the emotions. 2001's debut major label release "Distorted Lullabies" (Dreamworks) was pretty much just that--heavy, heartfelt rock that surges, lilts and soars while telling a story. The 2002 followup, "Precious," solidified the band's status among earnest fans of the Verve, Buckley and U2.
