What People Are Saying About Penny's Noodle Shop

In Short – Warm wood tones and the aromas of ginger and curry greet patrons at the door. A small waiting area is rarely enough space for the line of young locals who often spill onto the sidewalk. The menu easily surfs through several Asian cuisines. Start with delicately flavored Vietnamese spring rolls served with rich, nutty mustard sauce, or crisp, golden Japanese gyoza. Wide, chewy hot pepper noodles is a hearty entree with a nippy after-bite.
Good for what it is

This is not a fancy thai restaraunt, it's very casual and low priced. I appreciated the kind service and the relaxing environment. I had the ramen and it was average, There should have been more miso broth in it howeve,r the appetizers were good and so was the seaweed salad. I tried also the pad thai and liked it very much it had a hint of smokiness for some reason and it was surprisingly good. I would not say this place is terrible in any way and there were even left overs to take home. This is a place to just go to for a casual dining experience not an authentic excursion into the east. It is what it is.
- Pros: very inexpensive healthy option for dining
- Cons: not enough vegetarian options as far as varity of vegetables
Thai food, very weak for thai food....
by damianp at Citysearch
I was asked to go to Penny's after Pride 2008, in which I didn't go. But you know we love our thai food. Unfortunately it was not as good as I would of hoped. I have been passing here for years and said , "One day I will go in", but it was weak for Thai food. Thier Pad thai had no flavor and the noodles were weak. Crab Rangon was ok. Beef Salad was pretty good, and the Rice Pudding was actually the best dessert. The texture was just right with a hint of coconut. Event the Thai Coffee was not as good as one would hope. Although I didn't have the best of experiences, I will try Penny's again because maybe I just missed something and a second chance would solidify what I want the experince to be. Let us see.
- Pros: The over all look, the prices and the staff were all great
- Cons: Parking, Bland flavors, no big "surprise" just very average.....
HORRIFC PAD THAI
by chigirl32 at Citysearch
I was looking forward to this place, but it was gross. I ordered the Pad Thai and spring rolls. Spring rolls were bland, and the Pad Thai was HORRIBLE. Gross and no flavor. The chicken looked like beef. And there were no peanuts, barely any eggs...ugh! I wanted yummy pad thai so bad. I called for a refund and they were very hesitant. We will see if it actually goes through.
- Pros: delivery
- Cons: BAD FOOD!
