In Short
At this authentic Polish outpost, European tavern-meets-American coffee shop, with tapestry-backed booths with turquoise-vinyl seats and swirly floral carpeting. Native-speaking regulars load up on handmade pierogi, which bulge with fillings like cabbage or cheese, and snack from the iceberg-lettuce salad bar. Entrees include smoked pork chops and beef roll loaf in brown gravy, augmented by sides of coleslaw, sauerkraut and cucumber.

This place was recommended by people in the Polish community of Chicago. We drove 45 minutes in heavy Chicago traffic to find it. Located a parking place on the street and were promptly seated. Then we waited and waited and waited and waited and waited.... Finally my wife stopped the waitress and asked politely, "Could you please take our order?" And we waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited and waited.... Meanwhile the "waitress" was standing on the other side of the dining room walking with another waitress... Double wait time.... After 15 minutes of not being served, we got up and left. Now we know what the "wait" in "waitress" stands for. We would not go back and would not recommend it after all the trouble and time we went to find the place. TIPS is an acronym which stands for " To Insure Prompt Service." We did not leave a tip. We got home and I decided to call to speak with the manager and give them some feedback that might improve their service. The phone rang and rang and rang and rang and rang and rang and rang... Tonight we are having hot dogs on the grill. At least we won't have to wait for them in order to eat...
Pros: Promptly seated...
Cons: ...then they forgot about us. If you don't speak Polish "forgetaboutit..."

Angelica's is a no nonsense, get an authentic, fresh homecooked meal type of place. They have a grocery store next to the restaurant, so you know the food is fresh, fresh, fresh and good, good, good. Pasteries are home made and European. You cannot go wrong with any dish you select. I don't know how you can get all this, this cheap, cheap, cheap!
Pros: Great tasting homemade food
