In Short – Video slot machines and a mounted television add panache to this unadorned, home-style Polish spot. Generous portions are the order of the day: big bowls full of veggie-packed borscht, cheese pierogi garnished with caramelized onion, and potato pancakes. Braised pork in dill-kissed gravy is another option.

good food, unique experience

by dcanderson345 at Citysearch

if you're up for anything and like trying new things, this a great, inexpensive treat. i'd never had polish food before and it was great. we had the perogies (meat were good and the sweet cheese is almost like a dessert), and the stuffed potato pancake with pork...delicious. also the vegetable soup was unique and tasty. seems like a lot of comfort food (at least everything we ordered was pretty hearty).

if you want first class service, need a nice ambiance, or are bothered by a place that's not spotless, then this is NOT the place for you. i wouldn't call it dirty, and i wouldn't call the service awful. Service was slow but the woman was nice. Personally, the experience and trying new foods was definitely worth it and i will be back!

DO NOT GO

by irishrugbyplayer at Citysearch

OK, I read reviews from other sites, and this place looked great. BUT NO, I went there, and when I walked in, I should of walked straight out, the place is dingey. Imagine East End London. Next I sat down, the second sign I should of left was that my table was sticky, but I heard the food was great so I stayed. The waitress/cook/cashier came out, and gave me my menu, it too was sticky. At this point I was wondering, ummmm? She took my order, perogies, she said I would get 12 so I got 10 potato and 2 sweet cheese. The lady went to the back. (BY THE WAY, THE LADY ALSO HAD A VERY BAD ATTITUDE, ALMOST AS IF SHE DID NOT WANT TO SERVE ME.) About 5 mins later, a man walked in and spoke Polish to the lady, she said something back, and gave him some food, he paid and took his food out. She went back into the back. Then about 5 mins later, she came out about half way and yelled, "hey did you want them fried," I looked at her and wondered why she had not started on my food yet. "Yes" I said and she went to the back again, I heard coughing and snuffing from the back as she cooked my food. She came out, and basically threw my food down on the table, walked away, and i did not see her again until I paid, I didnt even get a refill on my drink. Ok, to the food, the perogies were hot yes, but greasy, and burnt on the bottom, and soggy on top, WTF. I was hungry after traveling all day, so I ate, paid, and left. As I walked to my car, I had that feeling that I was going to get sick, I didnt, but when you feel like that after leaving a place of eating, something is wrong. SO, take my advice, dont go, stay at home, and if you do, please for the love of God, take some antibiotics with you.

  • Pros: Ummmm?
  • Cons: Bad Service, Bad Food, Bad, just bad.

You must Go!

by Ghiotto at Citysearch

There just aren't places like this around. The food is hearty and fresh and made by Andrzej , his wife or his son all the time. (ensuring consistency) Perfect comfort winter food! I have had everything from the menu from the meatballs with mushrooms to the Stuffe potato pancakes. Their soups are incredible and they have delicious vegetarian stuffed cabbage and other veg entrees as well.

Andrejz is the type of place that you would never walk in on your own unless someone reccomended it. It just has one of those generic blue awnings on the outside that has seen better days. You will be pleasantly surprised as everyone I have ever reccomended it to .

It has an incredibly tasty menu at prices not adjusted for inflation!

YOU MUST GO!

  • Pros: Home food, High Quality, Fair Prices
  • Cons: Closes at 8 pm, Closed on Sunday
