Editorial Review for Bacchus – by Audarshia Townsend

The Scene
Roman god Bacchus threw yearly orgies, so you would expect to be, um, a little titillated at his namesake. Alas, Lincoln Park's Bacchus attracts a Lincoln Park crowd, and these wholesome khaki-wearing and Kate Spade-carrying customers rarely get out of control. An attractive, tri-level lounge, Bacchus gets points for its delightfully plush VIP room on the second level. Oversize crimson banquettes and handcrafted champagne bar are perfect for a night of schmoozing. What's missing, however, is a sense of sensuality. Where it should be dark and decadent, it's too bright and bold.

The Draw

The bad boy of Rome would be proud. Dive into the Orgy (Stoli Vanil and Razberi with Godiva white chocolate liqueur). Take on the Pagan (Vox with sour apple and grape pucker). Chill with Kir Caesar (sparkling wine with Chambord and lemon). All are $10.

Insider Tips

Sound Factor

DJs spin decent dance music, which ranges from Top 40 club music to classic tracks from the 1980s. The sound system rocks, and the acoustics are tight on all three levels.

No More Nasty

If this spot looks familiar, then you were probably hanging out when it was the Big Nasty, which was around for more than 10 years.

Me and my girls we there on saturday. This place is still one of Lincoln Parks best options. It got A little bit to crowded late night. Staff was the best.

Pros: good looking crowd, music, martini list

1 Star Rating: Not Recommended

Is it a crime to ask "are there any drink specials?" Apparently so at Bacchus b/c I was met w/ a caustic, supremely rude response from the catty bartender. The atmosphere wasn't anything to speak of either and made me feel kind of dirty (in a bad way).

Cons: , pricey drinks, trashy atmosphere
