“Live bands friday nights, great drink prices.”
“In contrast to the other Lincoln Park bars in the area the people who stop in are almost always really nice and laid back and the staff is extremely helpful, quick and attentitive.”
User review by jessi86024. There actually is live music 7 nights a week--a plus if you're looking for something to do on the random week night. For those interested in the Chicago music scene, a perfect alternative to the Metro, Double Door, etc--WFP is definitely more relaxed, although generally a good crowd and great acoustics. The music booking is both local and out-of-town, and the owners really try to find great up-and-coming variety. The staff is excellent--especially if you spend a little time getting to know them. All very friendly. The drinks are relatively cheap and usually pretty strong--unlike in downtown. It's absolutely my favorite bar in the city. Feels like home. Oh, and be sure to park at the Children's Hospital a block away. If you have your parking ticket stamped at the door, it's only $3 for the whole night.
User review by nowaklove. There is music on sundays and mondays actually!! there wasnt before but now sundays has a live band and mondays a dj spins 80s its soo much fun!!!
a great time. I had a great time. I saw an alternative band and it was excellent. It was loud enough to enjoy, but not too loud to socialize. The guy at the door was very helpful and their parking agreement with the hospital makes driving into the city much less of an ordeal. I liked it and would definitely go back!
Legendary music venue returns to Lincoln Park in name and spirit..
The Scene
Two rooms, separated by hanging velvet curtains, make up the club. One is the perfect watering hole featuring a beautiful, long wooden bar with mounted TVs, a raised back area with tables and an extensive liquor selection. The adjacent room provides an intimate live music setting with a raised stage, standing room in front and a tiered area in back with several tables.
The Draw
In 2001, Wise Fools Pub reclaimed its name as a vibrant live music venue. Established in 1968, the club was once the North Side place to see blues by legendary performers like John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Mighty Joe Young and Son Seals--the former two recorded live albums there. For a period in the '90s, different owners abandoned live music and changed the club's name to Waterloo. These days, live performances are scheduled five nights a week and run the genre gamut from DJs to alt-country.
