Editorial Review for Beviamo Wine Bar – by John Dugan
The Scene
Amid Little Italy's trusty dining spots, Beviamo Wine Bar is a casually funky option for the before- or after-dinner crowd and neighborhood UICers with taste for more than keggers. Barely candlelit, the space is darker than necessary, making it tricky to clearly discern the vaguely Moroccan decor (ceiling curtains and hanging ceramic lamps), local art, tables, couches and tiled bar.
The Draw
Beviamo has an interesting and affordable selection of international wines. The list is organized by flavor type ("Easy Drinking Red Wines," for example), smoothly enabling the novice to expand the palate with a glass or two. Eventually, the wine bar will offer flights for tasting portions. For those more about the scene than the shiraz, there's a full bar, including an adequate martini selection. Most nights DJs spin jazzy house; other evenings feature live musicians and poetry.

Insider Tips
When to GoAn energetic crowd is lured in on Mondays for $5 martinis in a wide variety of flavors. The evening also features music by a DJ; weekend nights sometimes see performances by pianists or vocalists.

i felt like it was my duty to write a bad review for this place. i've never written a review for any other place but this. i used to go this place for the $5 martinis on mondays and usually a very nice irish man bartended. he should be the owner, not the other douchebag. this bar is owned by a very rude person. he doesn't care about pleasing the customers, just making a profit. every time he's been there, i've been given very poor service. no welcome greeting, no goodbyes, no thank yous, NOTHING. he made a mistake on my tab, i get no apologies and not even a refund for three weeks. what the hell? if you do decide to go, i advise you to be extremely careful around the owner and your tab. he is short and beefy. the end.
Pros: a cheap drink only mondays
Cons: service!!

Just what my title says: i love this place, my friends and I have been going here for a while, we are so happy we discovered this place. The bartenders are awesome, service is great, and let's not get started on the Martinis, they are a "must try". I truly recommend this place.
