Editorial Review for Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Refined and comfortable, this contemporary south-of-the-border spot boasts a tiled copper interior enlivened by large, colorful Frida Kahlo reproductions. Ceviche, empanadas, red snapper and flautas are among the dishes offered, but many rave about traditional fare such as the chili relleno or enchiladas with mole sauce, all generously portioned and well-executed. Diner can also opt for the "casa barracha," a plate with skirt steak and plantains stacked to look like a house.

I went here on a Sunday night with three friends. We were seated promptly and the waitress was very attentive. The most memorable part of the night was the live music (man with guitar)...it gave a nice vibe to the place. The tableside guacamole was ok, but I prefer Adobo Grill. We saw a lot of couples around, the private booths lends itself to romanitic dining. My entree (shrimp w/ cucumber mango salsa) was good, but smelled a little fishy. The Filet with Rocquefort was very tasty, perfectly cooked. I wish I had gotten that dish! We had the chocolate tamale for dessert and it was very good. Not too sweet, not too rich. However, it's not the cheapest mexican food around.

Pros: Service, Music, Ambience, Outdoor dining,

Cons: Didn't feel authentic

We've gone to Las Palmas three times in the past month and I can't wait to go back. The food is amazing, the staff is efficient and friendly and the atmosphere is decidedly hip. The empanadas are unbelievable!!!! My goal is to try every entree and so far I've enjoyed the puerco indigeno the most.
