“fun, hip restaurant with great service (very impressed with our waiter's knowledge of Korean and his pronunciation even though he's obviously not Korean) but best of all the food is great!”
“The menu featured a wide variety of authentic dishes, but the prices were a little high.”
If you've OD'd on pad thai, move on to Korean, and sample the chap chae or bi bim bop from this sleek spot. Great for dates & foodie friends
very cool restaurant. this place is great. the food, atmosphere, and service were wonderful. this was the first time i've tried korean food and was it good. the texture and taste of the steamed dumplings were incredible. i highly recommend them. i also recommend the soju martini's. i had the ginger one and it went perfect with my food.
Jinju is a pure gem to say the least.... I am not surprised that Jin Ju was voted best new restaurant. Ive been to many Korean restaurants (even to the more famed Woo Lae Oak) that don't compete. Jin Ju is unique and everything is of high quality from their mouth-watering drinks to tasty food to superb service. And the ambience wonderful. It's a fun/hip place to go with friends or family and experience great cuisine.
Finally, great Korean in Chicago.... I've grown up on Korean food so of course I love it but it's been hard to find a great place to go out and get Korean food... until now... ever since I discovered Jin Ju, I've been so excited... a fun, hip restaurant with great service (very impressed with our waiter's knowledge of Korean and his pronunciation even though he's obviously not Korean) but best of all the food is great!! The bulgogi and dak bulgogi (spicy chicken) were great and even the kim chee chigae which can be disappointing at some places met the approval of everyone at our table (Korean and non-Korean). I'd definitely recommend this place to everyone. By the way, the drinks are just as good as we had heard too...
Pricey, small portions. I must say I was initially excited by all the positive reviews of this place. I was looking forward to eating Korean food with great atmosphere. The food isn't bad, but it's not fantastic. I must say however it is way overpriced for the portions they give you. The Kalbi looks more like 3/4 of a regular serving. I find it was a bad idea not to include a tabletop grill, which you'd find at every other Korean BBQ restaurant. The beef got tough after 10 minutes. Where is the panchan? 3 panchan??? I'm use to at least 6-10 different panchan. Where's the RICE?? The atmosphere was probably the best part, especially compared to the food. Simple decor which was pretty cool with the candles. The seats are a bit too close together though. Overall, they had a good idea. A better effort than the joke of a restaurant Soju.
Jin Ju is among the best of the best!. I am always so pleased with my experiences at Jin Ju. My boyfriend and I go there nearly once a week! This restaurant is sure to please with phenomenal dishes, spectacular sojutinis and martinis, impeccable service, and reliable, courteous management. Plus, it's a joy to see a sleek, family-run establishment thrive in a neighborhood full of independent businesses. Be sure to try the spicy squid and the kim bob te kim appetizer. And the traditional bulgogi is always a winner. Top it all off with ginger ice cream - delicious!
Excellent food, excellent staff!. Just back from a trip to Korea, I seem to constantly craving Korean food. Go figure. I have been to Korean restaurants in the city and suburbs, and many in the Seoul and Busan areas, and must say that this is one of the best. The chap chae was pefect, the bulgogi was excellent. The sojutinis are different, but fun. The staff was attentive, but not overly so...the were there to fill my water glass and provide another sojutini, take my order and give the check. I would very much recommend the restaurant for anyone looking for a good meal. We will return!
