L'anne

Not Impressed. I love fine dining. I recently went to L’Anne’s restaurant for dinner but was not impressed by their services. The combination of the French and Asian foods is a unique idea, but I am afraid L’Anne fails to present the beauty of either cuisine. There was no atmosphere in there but quietness. They are two different things. It was a Friday night, but the place was not busy. That is actually not a good sign.



I ordered salad (9) and New Zealand lamb chop (36). The prices are not too far from those in downtown.



The bread was served before the meal. The bread was great, but the butter was unspreadable as though it was directly from the fridge. In addition, there was no bread knife, well, there was no separate knife at all for the butter, so I had to use my dinner knife.

As I was eating my bread, the server came with my salad. Instead of moving my bread plate, the server used the salad plate to "push" my bread aside to “yield room” for the salad. The salad plate was then placed on right edge of the table. Did he suppose I would move the plate myself or eat my salad sideways? The flavor of the salad was awesome until I found a few piece of spoiled green-turned-black leaves in the salad.



Finally, the main course. The lamb chop was served with a large oval plate which was awkwardly presented on the table vertically, instead of the regular horizontal placement. Then the manager (or the owner?) came to ask me how was my lamb before I even had a taste of it. The knife was dull and would not cut the meat. The meat itself was also too raw to cut, though had very good flavor. It was more like medium-rare. The placement of the plate made it even more difficult to cut the meat because the edge of the plate kept hitting my hands. Oh, was I supposed to turn the plate myself? My water was also not replenished.



French food is famous for its presentation, flavor, and service. Fine dining is not fine dining unless every detail, be it the presentation, the quality, and the flavor of the food, is thoroughly thought out and made perfect and exquisite. The music was great, but the band could only be seen if you sit at certain tables. As an Asian and coming from hospitality background, I was extremely disappointed. For the price that they charge, they should match their price with their services.…

Best quality food. We went there with another couple for New Year's eve dinner, the food was exquisite, the atmosphere was calm and beautiful and the music was wonderful, the evening was so enjoyable that we would recommend this restaurant to all of our friends…

L'Anne was excellent, foods were beautiful & delicious, service was wonderful, music recorded and live very nice. First experience, wonderful restaurant. Three course dinner menu represented French and Asian foods very nicely, with a leaning toward Asian. The fresh seafood entree speicials should not be overlooked. Wine selections were not extensive but well representative and included ranges of very nice wines.. The chef's selection of desserts in the Sweet Trio is not to be missed and goes very well with a Navan aperitif. People who do not like L'Anne probably do not like Charlie Trotter's as well.…

Maybe the Best. Had lunch here today. Perhaps the finest dining experience I have had in a long time. My wife and I like to eat downtown because of the lack of quality and value in the suburbs, but then came L'Anne.

The chef is very modest, but he has worked with the best and the food shows it.

I thought the portion sizes were fine. If you enjoy quality food pairings then this is the restaurant for you.

On Friday and Saturday evenings the ivories are tickled on the piano.

Valuation superb with dinner entrees $12- $25.

What nice owners - they really care about their art. A rare find today.…
