“love the veggie sandwich.”
“Great variety of salads!”
“Again, the food is great once the order is correct and if you have a ton of patience and nowhere to go that evening - than I recommend this restaurant.”
“Maybe if our waitress had spent a little less time (at a very slow period in the evening) on her cell phone and a little more time and attention to our order it would have arrived freshly cooked and delicious.”
“The prices are unbeatable and everything is fresh.”

Just a nice, relaxed neighborhood watering hole. A recently revamped food menu has upped the appeal. Friendly bartenders.
Friendly folk.
The bartender was warm and welcoming. Good environment for drinks and conversation.
Love the location; good place to walk around/barhop/people watch.
No fun. Really poor service with a bad attitude. Too many sloppy drunks. Food has declined a lot since they opened. Too many other great choices available to waste any more time and money here.
Lousy service and lukewarm food. Took my date to Macs after reading glowing recommendations of the place. I was especially interested in trying their burgers and hand cut french fries. After indifferent service by our waitress and waiting much too long for our food, we found the burgers barely warm and the fries useless. Maybe if our waitress had spent a little less time (at a very slow period in the evening) on her cell phone and a little more time and attention to our order it would have arrived freshly cooked and delicious. We will never know.....
Great variety of salads! Great Mac and Cheese!. The first time I went to Mac's I was astounded by the list of great salads that they had. Since then, I've tried every salad and they are all amazing! The servers and bartenders are so friendly that I kept coming back. If you want to have a neighbrhood restaraunt experience this is it. They have great sandwiches, my favorite being the meatloaf sandwich which is homeade. Also, if you ever have a taste for good old American Mac and cheese- this is by far the best place in Chicago to get it!
Skip Mac's. Having lived down the block for a few years, I found Mac's has become one of great disappointments in Wicker Park. The food is pretty good to be sure, but you would only know that if it ever reaches your table. Time and time again, Mac's has continued to hire poor servers that do not show any interest in prompt service, being friendly, or being accurate in their orders. Whether or not this is a marketing strategy to make posh and try to build some pseudo-hipster cred, it falls more in the realm of insult. The fact is that I don't want to wait ten minutes to put in a drink order when there are ten other people in the bar-- I don't want to get my food fifteen minutes after my friends-- I don't want to be ignored by my waitress. That being the case, I don't want to go to Mac's. I have had enough. I will now bring my patronage (and sometimes hefty bar tabs with the tips to match) to almost anywhere else on the block.
Great food at low prices.
Mac's always has good food.
My husband and I like to come in from the burbs to frequent this place with our bucktown/wicker park friends. The prices are unbeatable and everything is fresh. I love the veggie sandwich. It is usually crowded when we go but worth the wait.
I love Mac's!. The food and beer are wonderful. Sit at the bar, if you're in a hurry. It can get really crowded and crazy sometimes so you might wait awhile for your meal otherwise. If you're in such a hurry that you have no patience, go to the other Mac's: McDonald's! But if you want great food, great beer, a fun atmosphere and a cool night out, stick with Mac's on Division! The menu is diverse and so is the drink selection. Parking can be a bit itchy but cabs are everywhere! You're also in the coolest neighborhood for a long, crazy night out. Start at Mac's and finish at Mac's! Make it your second home. And don't forget to try the CASK ALE!
Editorial Review. A wide array of domestic and imported beers as well as a late-night menu, create a hometown tavern feel in the Ukrainian Village.
Horrible service.
Mac's food is good. They have great salads and their mac and cheese is addicting; however, the service is so horrible that it negates any positives. I've given Mac's a chance on many occassions and each time our order comes out incorrect. Granted, I may be a bit pickier than others, but asking for dressing on the side is somewhat standard and if you are allergic to nuts, there should be NO NUTS. The waitstaff subscribes to the school of thought that their memory is better than their handwriting. Just write down our order; don't stop by every minute asking "was it dressing on the side?", "I'm sorry, did you order a high life or a bells?" -- Just write it down and look. It is so annoying. Oh, and order food that you can eat with your hands because they never remember to bring out silverware.
Again, the food is great once the order is correct and if you have a ton of patience and nowhere to go that evening - than I recommend this restaurant.
Great comfort food. MACs is a great neighborhood place that offers some terrific food. It's definitely a higher-standard than your normal bar food. The mac and cheese is great; the seared tuna on field greens is terrific and the pork chops are wonderful. Definitely give this place a try. Well worth it and the staff is great!
