Prairie Moon...DELICIOUS.. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in Evanston, hands down. My friend and I were walking in the downtown area headed towards Tommy Nevin's when we stumbled upon Prairie Moon. From the outside, it looks as if it will be rather small and cozy. However, once you enter the restaurant, you realize that it's actually pretty huge! They have a really cool front bar area, with a bar they call "McCormick's Bar". When you continue towards the back of the restaurant, there are two dining rooms- one small and one large. They are very spacious, and have big, beautiful windows that they open during nice weather-it really creates a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere and helped create a soothing environment where we could sit, relax, and eat some lunch. They also have a gorgeous fenced in patio that I will definitely be back to check out. Everyone was super friendly and all smiles when we walked in as well, and our server was very good. And as for the food...TO DIE FOR. My friend Alison got an awesome salmon salad that I snuck a couple bites of, and I got the blackened fish tacos which were amazing. They also had other items ranging from gourmet burgers to delicious appetizers like chips and guac and calamari (if you are lookin to get some bar food). If you're a beer lover-this place is for you. Their extensive beer list was really well put together, and had a beer for everyone. We loved lunch so much, we came back for drinks later that night! We discovered "The Roadhouse" which is a bar in the back. It had pool tables, darts, and cool lights everywhere that made it a really enjoyable place to be. Also, we discovered they have a party room back there where people can schedule and host private events. I was talking to the bartender and apparently they have done everything from a bar/bat mitzvah to a wedding reception/rehearsal dinner. I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out!!!!!

Allright. I went for lunch on a weekend and all the food was very greasy. They are good for appetizers and drinks at night, though. Drink specials are original and not like anything else you see in Evanston. They have a nice atmosphere and a lot of space. The prices were not outrageous, and I felt I got what I paid for.

Generous helpings of comfort food in a charming, all-American atmosphere.. In Short
Soft green and yellow walls and colorful Midwestern art add to the airy charm of this comfortable, lofty space. The moderately priced menu gathers favorites from all over the country: Texas sliced sirloin, Mackinac whitefish, crawfish etouffee and more. Calamari dusted with Parmesan cheese and sprinkled with tomato-basil relish, or barbecued chicken wings sweetened with ancho-cherry sauce are favorite appetizers. Family-sized plate of good-and-crispy fried chicken comes with mashed potatoes and chicken gravy.

Be Prepared to Wait. Service was not the best at the Prairie Moon. The restaurant was not very busy. We were sitted promptly, however had to wait awhile before our server came over to take our drink order. It also took a long time for us to get our bill. The table next to us was noticable upset with the service as well. The food was very good. They had an interesting twist on American classics. The portions are large, however I still felt that the prices were a bit steep for the quality of food and service.

criticwannabe. I always try to give new Evanston locales business but the outside appearance of Prairie Moon almost stopped me. It may possibly be the ugliest restaurant in the city. Fire that architect. Luckily, I ducked my head and went in to discover that the inside was warm and inviting. The food, interesting and affordable. Word of warning, check to see your silverware is clean and server wasn't aware that the zinfandel on the menu wasn't what they were pouring.

Ok, but not fantastic.. We got there quite early. While the food was delicious, the service was horrible. We were the ONLY people in the entire restaurant! I had to get up twice to get someone to help us.

Great fun!. To cap a hectic week, friends recommended this terrific Evanston restaurant to hubby and me. The "3 sisters" stew preceded by a cosmopolitan hit the spot.

Good eats, atmosphere. Huge place. 2 bars, plenty of tables. Really cool mix between nice, sit-down dinner and grab-a-beer and burger type place. We went to the back room, called The Roadhouse. It's much more like a bar, but with really good grub. We ordered the philly steak sandwhich, salad and crab cake. Awesome! And the price was right.

Check it out. We were pleasantly surprised.

Ravishing, darln', simply ravishing!. YUMMMMY and PRETTY FOOD! Can we just start with the exquisite Painted Soup? A simply superb puree of three colorful veggie variations, all artifully placed together for a splendid bowl presentation, something different and exciting to try! The menu offers the best of American regional cuisine and items ranging from hearty and filling to lighter choices, something for everyone! The portions are satisfying and the presentation is unique and refreshing. The decor is breathtaking and has a free, Californian vibe that has been untapped in the Evanston area. The crowd tends to be sophisticated, sassy and urban, with the multiple bars and game room adding a fancy free flair! Sooo chic!

FLAVORFUL FOOD. THE COMFORTABLE,EYE-PLEASING ATMOSPHERE WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AT THIS NEW EVANSTON RESTAURANT. THE MENU OFFERS A WIDE VARIETY OF DISHES TO PLEASE EVERYONE'S TASTES. I HAD THE WOOD-ROASTED CHICKEN WITH GARLIC MASHED POTATOES & GRAVY. THE CHICKEN HAD JUST THE RIGHT BLEND OF SPICES AND FLAVOR,JUST LIKE YOU HAD PREPARED IT AT HOME.
