SHUT DOWN.
This Lalo's location is no longer open. It has been replaced by another restaurant/bar called LaSalle Power Company. If you want to go to Lalo's, they have other locations in the suburbs (Glenview, Des Plaines, etc.)

Your place to go for authentic Mexican cuisine and awesome Sangria!.
My boyfriend and I are new to the city and ate there last night and it was perfect. The place is huge but it felt private in the booths. The food was great and the service was as well. They are very polite and the pricing is very reasonable. The sangria was amazing too! I highly recommend.

Good food.
LOVED their chips and salsa. My husband said it was the best chorizo taco to be the best he?d ever had; chicken mole enchilada was good as well as the chile relleno. Very tasty rice, and I liked the refried beans since I prefer them without lard. My pork tamales (I had both tomatillo and ranchera sauce) were flavorful but on the rich side for me?got a chunk of fat in one of them. A slice of poblano in there added some spice. Flavorful chicken soup that came with the dinners. Spacious restaurant, very nice. Service was great at every point from hosts, to attentive bus boy refilling chips and salsa, and waiter who helped us get out of there in record time. It's just a little more than I'd like to pay.

Don't Waste Your Money.
It was just a bad experience all around. We we're seated quickly got water, chips and salsa. Our waitress came to take our order she got an attitude when I ask her if the had cheese enchiladas and acted like she had no clue what they were then told me I was talking about quesadillas, like I had never eaten Mexican food before. I ended up getting the spinach enchiladas and they tasted like dirt, there were so bad I nearly got sick. My boyfriend got the Pollo con Mole and the mole sauce had a really thick paste like texture that left a horrid aftertaste and the chicken so extremly dry. The waitress came around after 20 minutes and asked how was everything as if she couldn't tell by the amount of food left on the plates. I wish I would have read the reviews before I went. I seriously would go to Taco Bell before I go back to this place. It's way overprice and the food is NOT good. Don't waste your money or time. There are plenty of other good Mexican food place around. Read the other reviews, you'll see a pattern. If I could give it a lower star I would, it was that bad.

Munch on Mexican food and sip monster margaritas in this festive tri-level space..
In Short
This lively dining room buzzes with corporate types at lunch and happy hour. The space is awash in color: purple ceilings, vibrant paintings and high windows that let in lots of light. Start with a combo platter of appetizers, with enough nachos, quesadillas and flautas for four. Favorite entrees include chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce, chicken in mole sauce, and deep-fried flautas with shredded beef or chicken. For dessert: moist tres leches cake.

Real Mexican.
The only complaint I have about Lalo's is that the tables are very close together. Otherwise, the food is topnotch and very authentic. I do not frequent restaurants very often unless they come highly recommended(Mexican people prefer to eat at home), but I shall go back again and again.

Lalos.
I was really dissapointed with this place. For years I had heard some goods things about this place but wound up being unimpressed. I tried the one in River North and the one in Cicero- both failed to meet my expectations. At the River North location, I swear, my dinner plate had a slight scent of a wet dirty dishrag.

The service was great, the food bland. I now know why the waitress hadn't asked how we wanted our steak? Where was the meat? There was very little meat for our $14 dollar price. The vegetables that accompanied it had no flavor what so ever. The margarita was tasty but also overpriced. All of us had been at the restaurant when it was Jordans and what a transformation-the decor was wonderful, but the vinyl/plastic marquee outside tacky. Doesn't go at all with the neons hanging on the side of the building.

lalos-what a disappointment.
Too big for the kitchen to handle-From the overcrowded dining room to the cold food and to the dirty bathrooms in the basment-this place is terrible! Don't bother. Stick with Uncle Julio's for "lincoln park" style mex or go down to Nuevo Leon on 18th for the best in mexican food-authentic and hot when its delivered to your table.
