“On one occasion the food was excellent and the portions was plenty.”
“It is a great place for kids, parties of 2 or of 20.”
“Though the food was good the service was horrible.”
“They romp n rave about there huge portions but the price does go along with it ( I mean Italian really isnt that expensive to start off with) you wont leave without about 50 buk bill.”
Decent meal, a bit tight and loud.. If you are looking to walk out stuffed, this is the place. I think the food quality and quantity is a good value, and the service was generally friendly and attentive. The tables seating was a bit snug, and I thought the noise level a little high for having conversation.
They don't know how to estimate wait time.
I have to agree with the "HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED..... If you go, make a reservation" wish I had read that before we stopped in at the Orland Park location for dinner. That review was written in 2008, but could have been now (they are still the same).
DO NOT JUST STOP IN
We were told 30-35 minute wait (for a table for 3). After an hour, we still weren't seated and not likely to for another 1/2 hour or more the way things were moving. We gave up and walked out. When we left, they were telling people the wait was an hour or less. Ha! Those people will be there two or three hours.
We won't be going back.

In Short
Homesick for your mother's Italian cooking? Grab your appetite and head to this restaurant, where the friendly wait staff will serve up portions of Colosseum-esque proportions, like spaghetti and meatballs loaded with savory tomato sauce and lots of pungent garlic. Dishes center on Southern Italian immigrant fare, and are meant to be shared family-style with a large goblet of wine-to enhance the taste, of course. The ornate décor with walls covered in vintage photos evokes a warm homey feel that welcomes customers to dine among the other families and loyal customers. Buon Appetito!
HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED.........If you go make a reservation. I was very excited to take my mom to Buca for mothers day. I decided to take her a day early to avoid the crowd. On our way we called to make a reservation and was told that we needed to make it 2 hours in advance but was assured that we could come now and be seated. When we got there is was so crowded that people were standing outside of the door. Went inside and was told that there would be an hour wait. Because of the good things we were told, we decided to put our name on the list to return later. We returned 45 minutes later to mass chaos and was told that there were 5 parties ahead of ours. As we were sitting there another hour past by and we got very frustrated. We were told that a large party was there and wouldn't leave and was taking up space. We continued to wait when I noticed a gentleman walked in claiming he made a reservation by phone that morning. When he was told that he was not on the list he began to complain, asked for a manager and was seated immediately. At that point I started to get frustrated and was told that there was another 3 parties ahead of us. 2 hours and 15 minutes later we were seated. First off it was cold in the dining room and second of all no one greeted us or even gave us water for a half hour. By that time I was ready to leave but my mom was hungry and convinced me to stay. After 3 hours of being in this building I finally got a salad. Though the food was good the service was horrible. Everyone was super busy and not attentive to the fact that it took 2 hours to get seated nor that I may have been thirsty. I have never had this type of experience at a restaurant. HIGHLY DISSAPPOINTED!
Amazing family style Italian food!. I love this restaurant! The waiters are, for the most part, always very friendly and the cooks never skip a beat. The food is always delicious and is served in giant family-style portions meant for sharing. The pizza is truly one of a kind and very tasty as is everything else. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a meal at this restaurant!
Good Food. We were the first people there and then the next people that came in they sat right next to us. We started off with the 2 person ( i dont know why they have to do that) ceasar salad for ten dollars! but it was a really good salad and the croutons were real fresh.. then we ordered spicey sausage shells for 15 bukss and in came 6 stufed yummy shells but it felt like we needed to order more cuz it was so plain.. They romp n rave about there huge portions but the price does go along with it ( I mean Italian really isnt that expensive to start off with) you wont leave without about 50 buk bill... id say go to another italian joint
Gimmicky Itallian. Dissapointing chain. If you go anyway, don't go with less than 4 people. You are not allowed to order portions that are not huge. Tacky, distasteful decor. Don't believe a glowing all 10's review that is over a year old, and is the only review ever written by that person. Seems like a Buca placed review to me.
best atmosphere, familystyle!!!. This place is awesome, you get a whole lotta food for not a lot of cost! It is a great place for kids, parties of 2 or of 20. The wait staff is the friendliest around. The hot food is served HOT. The cold food is served COLD.
