My kind of bar.... Great Staff!! Good Bar Food... and they now have Peroni!!! I actually have lived in the neighborhood for 3 years and dig their 1/2 lb burgers (Midway Burger) and their chopped salads are huge.

If you want a bar that you can watch a game with no hassle and a good bar scene, this is your place.

Nasty and rude!. Don't go there. Should be on the next "Kitchen Nightmares". Encountered a really rude staff person, and found an old piece of food in the back room, with insects all over it.

Cubs lost and I still had a great time!. First time in a long time going to Roscoe Village but I'm glad I met my friend at the Riverview for the Cubs game. The Cubs lost (go figure!) but the bartenders and waitresses there kept us laughing. It's not the first place on my list of places to go but definitely recommend it if you're looking to dodge the "viagra triangle" scene and do something laid-back for a change.

Congenial, comfortable hangout serves up bar food to Roscoe Village's 30-something set.. The Scene
Another classy bar from Steve Soble's growing empire (Southport Lanes, Lucky Strike, Corner Pocket), the Riverview is sunny and comfortable, with hardwood floors, roomy booths, and a subdued decor that pays homage to the old Riverview Amusement Park (formerly at Belmont & Western). Seats fill quickly in the airy main bar; a couple other rooms offer billiards and video games for the overflow crowd.

The Draw
Nice selection of draft beers, from Newcastle and Bell's Oberon to Goose Island, Sierra Nevada and Summit Hefe Weizen. But the real draw here is the sophisticated bar-food menu--always a good bet in Soble's establishments--which includes treats like mini corn dogs, cilantro-pesto quesadillas, and a mean spinach artichoke dip. Salads are so big they come with full-size tongs for tossing; try the steak version, with grilled beef, new potatoes and crisp green beans. Spice-lovers will dig the "Fireball," a blackened chicken sandwich with jalapeño mayo and a pile of seasoned fries.

Great Food, Even Better Value!. We went to Riverview b/c had a coupon, but the food was so reasonably priced, we didn't even use the coupon! We have gone back 4 times since! The menu is extensive and everything that we have tried has been great. We especially like the pizza, salads, and french fries. The service is also very friendly and prompt.

Good food and drink. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and liked it a lot because they slipped a slice of fresh tomato in there. The blackened chicken sandwich was very spicy. If you don't like very hot items, keep looking (the menu has lots of options). Spices don't bother me and I enjoyed the taste I had. The beer and wine selection is fairly complete and average-priced. I also thought the staff was alert and helpful. All that said, the word "Billiards" is on the sign outside. I was ready to get my pool on, only to find one pool table in the joint. It was coin operated and the competition to hold the table gets tougher as the night rolls on. I didn't get to warm up and only played one short game. The crowd wasn't very diverse either. But for food, this place is pretty good.
