LOVED IT!!! Don't believe everything you read!

I am very surprised to read all of these negative reviews on here because I have had the BEST experience at this store.
I first came here because it was suggested to me by many of my married friends, newly engaged and other friends who had been in weddings and bought a bridesmaid dress here. From soooo many people telling me that this shop was fabulous, I knew I had to check it out myself!
When I came in for my appointment, I was worried I was going to be overwhelmed with so many dresses, and I already had some ideas of what gown shopping was going to be like, since I am addicted to "Say Yes To The Dress",,, but my consultant put me at ease as soon as we met! The gowns were kept in back and after a brief consultation with her, she went back and pulled out the perfect groups of gowns! This was my first time trying on and I fell in love with all of them, and I was afraid I was going to be over budget, but she was sooo respectful and kept my budget in mind while she showed me gowns. After trying on all kinds of different gowns, I was able to put on my favorites again, looked in a larger mirror and was able to put on veils and other jewelry. Let me tell you, you are not a bride until that veil goes on and then came the waterworks! haha!!! I didn't think I would ever be able to pick out the perfect gown, but I knew it was the one after I tried on my favorites!! Even though it was my first time out, I knew it was it and I didn't have to keep going to shop to shop to shop...who needs to? Besides that, I had my mom there, not an entourage (thank god! lesson learned from "Say Yes") and she loved it to, plus, they are in Lake county and I didn't have to deal with snoody Oak Street, their prices and their Chicago tax, yikes! You get just as beautiful gowns here along with friendly faces and great prices!!!!
After finding my gown, my consultant asked me what I was thinking of for bridesmaids, and I wasn't really sure--but after talking to her, she brought back two perfect choices, and I was able to pick one!!! So, my gown, accessories, and bridesmaids were all done in one day!!!!
I couldn't believe how the day went and I called all of my girlfriends and told them they were right, this shop was the best and I loved it!!!
I could keep going, but I would just like to say again, I don't know why the shop has some bad reviews, because the service, employees, and the selection is amazing!!! (Don't believe everything you read...maybe the issue was the people writing those reviews, lol...again another thing I have observed from watching "Say Yes" marathons...bridezillas!!!)
I have heard bridal horror stories that is why I am sooo thankful I am going to be working with Alamour!
- Pros: the service, the selection, the employees, loved it all!
- Cons: A little far from city, but worth every extra minute!!

place has gone downhill

I do not support this establishment at all!!! I purchased my wedding dress and bridal veil from this store and had all my fittings done here spending well over 5 grand. When you are getting fitted they do not let you walk around in your dress so I had no idea that later, when I would have to walk down the aisle, I wasn't able to! The dress was too long and I ended up having to carry the dress the entire day of my wedding. To top it off, I tripped over the extra length in the front on the way down the stairs and sprained my ankle and ended up in the ER the first day of my marriage. A l'amour bridal refused to reimburse me for my alteration charges. Which had the dress been altered correctly and they had let me Walk in the dress, we could have avoided this whole fiasco.

Amazing Bridal Store

This store is amazing. After being disappointed by 2 other stores in the Chicago area, I tried going to A L'amour. I did not have an appointment & explained to them that I had had a bad experience shopping for dresses so far. They were not busy, so they went ahead and took me to a dressing room and told me they would give me a better experience...and they did! I worked with Carmel and she was great and very patient with me since I was not sure of what I was looking for. She helped me narrow down my decision and I ended up buying a dress and veil that day! Thank you so much!
- Pros: Excellent service and very helpful staff.
- Cons: If you are on a tight budget, have other stores in mind.
