Wonderful food, wine selection, and atmosphere. This is a destination restaurant. Plan on going and taking a slow pace for the evening. The food is wonderful and excellently prepared. This is quality. If you can't go for dinner, their lunch menu is equally wonderful. I have been going there for many years, and it has never disappointed. I first was introduces to 1776 when my boss took clients there, and the place very much impressed them from the servers to the dessert. A place with true class and character.

Good but the price is a bit high. My wife really liked the ambiance. We arrived on a Saturday and a group of about 10 people showed up in 1776 costumes to enjoy dinner. Not sure what the reason was, but it added to the feel of the place and made it a bit fun to see.

So the reason for the 3 stars is the value for the money. The food was good but the portions were so so. Two drinks, two dinners, and one desert with tip was $80.00 and we both left a little bit hungry. (To be fair, we both had a good appitites.) Overall the price seemed a little high for the value.

Cozy place for great local dinner in Crystal Lake. We have visited 5-6 times since moving to Illinois late last year. All our meals have been great, the service is wonderful from the table service to the bar. Good offering of seasonal specials using local stock of meats, vegetables, fruits, etc. Nice wine list from glass of house to cult vintage bottles. The place is small but that is what we enjoy about this local favorite in Crystal Lake. The only issue we have encountered is the rude owners of the place, if they stayed away and let their hired staff handle the business they would come out ahead.

Great for an evening out or for family gatherings. I have been her on many occasions and it impresses me every time. I was here for some family gatherings and the owner was happy to help arrange the tables for us. I was there on a date and the wait staff made it very enjoyable for the two of us. I chose this loaction just becasue of the wait staff and different selection on the menu. I couldn't have been happier at any other place in McHenry County. The menu prices are not the same as let's say Fridays or Chili's, but you pay the difference because this place is on another level of quality.
