“Honestly I am not a huge burger fan.”
“It wasn't a huge line but it moved kind of slow.”
Disrespectful Service. I went there a couple of months back. The guy that takes the orders started yelling at my teenage son for picking up someone else's order. He was arrogant and disrespectful, even though it was acknowledged by one of the cooks that they called our name. I'm not going back.
Great Burgers. Overall my experience was a great one with this little burger joint embedded on Des Plaines river road. Quite delicious and mouth watering. The only problem was that the lines are so long with people who are twice the size of you, its disgusting. I do recommend the 1/3 pound cheeseburger, you will not be dissappointed!
Hands down best burger!. Don't let the long lines stop you. The food is fantastic! The burger is by far my favorite.
Three-way Fries, and Shakes top the menu.
I arrived at 10:45am and there were already six people waiting for the doors to open. The menu is simple with just the basics (hot dogs, burgers, sausage, beefs, and all the typical sides. I ordered a couple 1/3 lb. cheddar burgers (one of which was for my wife), a hot dog (Chicago style), three-way fries, small fries and a chocolate/banana shake. Everything made it home except for the shake and fry.
? Char-grilled 1/3 lb. cheddar burgers: The meat was good, not too greasy ? but for my taste the char-grilling was too overpowering. I liked the unique Merkt?s cheese flavor (I have used this brand of cheese on my home burger.) The toppings were plentiful (I had raw onion, but grilled onions is an option), and the bun was fresh and yummy. (give the burgers a 2.5 out of 5?disappointing)
? Hot Dog (Chicago style): mine was steamed, but char-grilling is an option. Nothing super special ? the dog was crisp and the toppings were fresh (4 out of 5 stars).
? Fries (had regular and 3-way): Had to order the ?3-way? fries ? previous reviewers cited that as a must have?and I agree the 3-way fried were wonderful and probably 1,000 calories. The good helping of crinkle cut fries were tossed into a Styrofoam container, topped with cheese, and generous dollop of sour cream and REAL bacon bits. The fries were cooked perfectly, and all toppings were delicious. (5 out of 5)
? Chocolate/Banana Shake: Another winner ? They tossed a fresh banana was made one with some chocolate ice-cream ? I sucked that lovely mixture up rater quickly (4.5 out of 5).
To wrap it up ? I will probably never stop back, mainly because I live rather far away, but I would expect the long lines to further discourage me.
If you are burger lover ? try these two places? The Spot in Kenosha, and Monk?s (Wisconsin Dells), oh ya in if ever near San Diego ? Hodad?s is by far the best burger in the world.
Have patience folks - you won't be sorry!. Sometimes you need to know what you're getting yourself into, and this is one of those situations. I'd heard this place had long lines, so I was prepared for that. Other than the annoying woman behind me who has no sense of personal space, and despite the fact that I was beginning to doubt my sanity for waiting in line nearly 40 minutes on a Friday at 3pm (wow, what's up with THAT?) It was SO worth it. We had everything you should NOT eat, and it was delicious! The banana coconut cream pie shake was to die for, including toasted coconut and cherries.....the bacon cheddar burger....WHOA it was GREAT, 3 layer fries (includes cheddar cheese, sour cream and REAL bacon bits), and onion rings. We all ordered a little something different with regard to sides so we could share. WORTH the wait, no guarantees on your line mates! Yum!
Bad customer relations. The hours they have are not customer freindly. We were in town for a concert(we are from Minnesota) so we thought we would stop in. We found the place and saw plenty of people eating outside and the door was open so we naturally thought they were open, but nope. The old hag of a lady said they were closed even though we could see them cooking in the background. Bad customer relations. If your closed, then don't have your door wide open and be cooking in the background! Also, why would they close at 5pm on a saturday?
solid burger, def top 10 quality. i enjoy a good burger. pradise pup delivers. we were craving a good burger and decided to roll to paradise pup. we got there and waited outside in the cold for 5 minutes or so before we got in. we secured a spot at the stools and took our first bite. juicy, flavorful, and unique. by unique i mean good. good like a backyard barbeque. fat meat, crispy bacon, and damn good seasoned fries. worth the wait. will go back in the summer. try the blackcherry koolaid. don't expect a fancy meal. this is man food in its entirety.
Out of the way, but darn good dogs.... This is one of those places that you'll have trouble finding. But if you dome come across it, while winding alongside the river, do stop in for a terrific Chicago dog. I love the char dogs, but pretty much everything is solid and nicely priced. Plus, you see everything being prepared -- it's a tiny joint, so nothing's hidden.
worth the wait. The parking lot is packed on Saturday and don't park in the lot next door. I was lucky to grab a spot and then I got in line. It wasn't a huge line but it moved kind of slow. but when I saw them cooking everything fresh I did not mind. I got the double cheddar burger. 2/3lbs. It was really good. I wanted to get a hot dog too but With the 3 layer fries and a shake I didn't. I will definitely stop back and try a dog sometime. This pace is definitely worth trying.
