i've been robbed.
this was one of my favorite restaurants in chicago, but no more. the owners have replaced it with a shell of it's former self. they have taken away all of their regular menu items and replaced it with their banquet menu. went there for valentines day and was so disappointed that I will never get married again. it is a sham, farce, dupe whatever you want
to say against their former customers who held a warm spot in their hearts for this onetime chicago favorite. if you want a piece of chicken, fish or steak with mashed potato and carrots and broccoli then enter at your own risk. I will live with the memory of what it used to be.
Magnificent!!!.
I felt like a million bucks when I came here. VIP service, pull up w/ your car,-valet parking, come in-have your coat hung for you, ready to sit-they pull your chair out for you. This is a truly beautiful place to propose to your dashing lady. One that will truly be remembered by her.
Interior is like walking into a cave, dark, but the walls are carved out with candels in the opening to set the mood. Ive never been to a place like this before.
Gourmet menu, for example sliced paper thin beef carpacio, mashed potatoes made into mountain peaks. Dessert chocolate molten lava cake with a warm chocolate oozing out. Delicious.
Great place to dine in for any occasion!.
I personally love this place. It feels like home when i go there! Very friendly atmosphere and polite people make every visit so special!
Would live there if they would allow me to :)))
Fine Dining at its Best!. I am very particular when it comes to fine dining. Cafe La Cave has met all my expectations! It has a romantic, intimate ambiance. Great host and wait staff. The food is wonderful, especially the table side prepared steak Diane. Very convenient location to the All State arena and O'Hare. Highly recommended!
Worst service. I have personally been to many restaurants around Illinois and this by far has been the worst service. Management and reception were rude and judgemental toward the new customers. It is as though they are trying to push new comers away. I definitely did not appreciate the hostess looking at me and other customers up and down. There was no smile or welcoming feeling from her. The food was fair but unexpected for an expensive restaurant. The decor was nice but too dark and uncomfortable. Too small when there are too much people. Disappointing!
User review by robbie06. Beautiful place to have a reception or just dinner. Food is fantastic and service is impeccable. Be careful when hosting an event- if you ask management at Cafe La Cave for a recommendation, the vendor will have to pay a commission (which will most likely be reflected in your price) if you agree to use their services. Also, for such an exclusive venue, they should not be charging extra for pin-spot lighting, napkins, and floor length table cloths- this should be standard.
Special-occasion suburban restaurant combines tuxedo service and classic French cuisine..
The Scene
Well-heeled suburban couples and extended families frequent this stately, pillared restaurant and banquet facility. A favorite for intimate dining, the namesake cave room boasts faux stalactites, dim lighting and a low ceiling, while the large formal dining room blends '80s Miami with French provincial style: Pink scalloped booths hug the perimeter, with palm trees acting as dividers. A marble fireplace commands the center of the room, and dishes are rolled out on carts and presented with silver domes.
The Food
The old-school French menu boasts traditional, decadent fare like garlicky, buttery escargots in the shell and cold smoked salmon served with dainty portions of traditional accompaniments. Perfectly done lamb is sliced tableside and bathed in jus, poured from roasting pan to plate. Sea bass is airy and delicious, plated with creamy Dijon and ground crab sauce. For dessert, triple-chocolate mousse cake is worth the calories.
Great Atmosphere. I truely enjoyed this restaurant and would strongly recommend it to others. Dining in the cave room added a great atmosphere. The caeser salad was excellent, but the garden salad was lettuce and dressing.
incredible. This is a wonderful place to dine in or have an event. I have done both and had a wonderful experience all around
Experience Romance. From the first step into Cafe la Cave, we knew we entered a special place. The interior design and decor were exquisite, and created a romantic atmosphere. The staff was pleasant, and provided excellent service. The Steak Diane, (prepared at the table!) and Filet were done to perfection. Cafe la Cave is "fine dining."
