Editorial Review for My Generation – by Suzanne Carmel

The Scene
Picture a head shop, only filled with colorful clothing and accessories, and you've got My Generation, complete with colorful graffiti-filled walls, love beads, music posters and other remnants of the hippie era. The store also pays homage to disco, with album covers on walls and miniature disco globes hanging from the ceiling.

The Goods
The store carries clothing for girls ages 5 to about 18. Popular items include sweatpants and shorts with tush decals like "soccer" and "dancer"; anything denim; Paul Frank pajamas featuring Julius the Monkey; and lots of prom-primed outfits. Accessories include Wee Wizard collectible candles, charm bracelets, incense, posters, tapestries, throw blankets, backpacks, purses, sunglasses, Lava Lamps, retro wigs and--of course--Grateful Dead and Phish stuff. You'll also find beanbag chairs, which can be custom-ordered in a variety of colors and designs.

User Reviews for My Generation

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I heard the store had new owners so I drove up to check it out. I just LOVE the new music and wall decorations. Truly makes shopping at My Gen a trip back in time, but with sylish retro clothes for todays girls. Staff was great at helping me pick out gifts for my nieces, and the gift wrap was such a nice touch. I look forward to seeing the store evolve under new ownership.

This store is under new management and has become a really fun experience. You can tell there is excitement in the air the moment you walk in the door - the staff is extra helpful and the newly revised layout of the store and the new merchandise is easy to navigate and fun to look at. The store is kid-friendly, but as an adult, I enjoy the vibe and it brings back my desire to be a rock star - even if I'd need a hip replacement for that to happen. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for cool kids clothes and fun gifts. The gift wrap is a nice perk. I'm looking forward to the roller-disco party I hope that they throw soon. That was MY generation.
