Editorial Review for Froggy's French Cafe – by Citysearch Staff

The Scene
Froggy's is the kind of place where North Shore residents come to relax, dress down and unwind. Their kids come when they want to dress up and behave nicely. It's small, but a comfortable bar makes waiting easier.

The Food
The menu changes frequently and seasonally. Dinner might begin with a well-seasoned crab cake or sliced pot roast topped with mushrooms and garnished with horseradish. Duck with orange sauce is both tender and flavorful. Meat is moist, skin relatively crisp, and sauce not overly sweet. Sautéed sea scallops in fresh chive sauce are equally successful. Scallops are large and sweet, their delicate flavor enhanced by the sauce. Roast rack of lamb is cooked medium-rare, seasoned with rosemary, thyme, oregano and mustard, with a sauce of tomatoes and a hint of rosemary. In a concession to American tastes, salad is served before the entrée and provides a pleasant interlude, as does sorbet. Desserts are generous. Try excellent apple tart served with appropriately sweet caramel sauce.

Dinner Deal

The fixed-price dinner is one of the most flexible around and really is the way to go if you're thinking of ordering at least three courses anyway.

This is one of my favorite restaurants! The "fixed" menu is practically a MUST! You get so many choices - just picking is one of the highlights of being there. The waitstaff is extremely friendly, knowledgable and efficient. Go on a weeknight, there will be no wait or only a short one. Plan to stay for a long time (eating chef Tierry's food is an event, not to be rushed through). Everything from appetizer to dessert is just outstanding!

Pros: Food, service, atmosphere
