Editorial Review for Jameson's Charhouse – by Jennifer Olvera

The Scene
Like its sister location in Arlington Heights, this is a family-friendly restaurant with an upscale twist. Locals settle into cherry-wood booths illuminated by swirly glass-pendant lighting. Light rock tunes, fresh flowers on tables and a roaring, two-sided fireplace draw couples seeking a night away from the kids.

The Food
The all-American menu is extensive and varied, offering items like chef's salads, beef liver and even a 26-ounce pork chop. The star of the menu is steak, from New York strip with sauteed mushrooms to a tender filet served alongside lemony bearnaise sauce, steamed broccoli, silver-dollar carrots and baked potato. Baby back ribs are slathered in sweet, clingy sauce, while outstanding shrimp De Jonghe is intensely garlicky and coated in oven-browned, lemon-kissed breadcrumbs. Sweet endings include tiramisu and a chocolate sundae topped with nostalgia-inducing Magic Shell.

Insider Tips

Save Money

The menu is reasonably priced; save even more at lunch. In addition to a menu with reduced prices, choose from a special menu with an array of fresh fish prepared Cajun- or Greek-style, broiled or sauteed for less than $20.

I've dined here several times. I love the fresh fish selection and my husband always enjoys a good steak. Great service, great food!

Pros: fish and steaks

We took my parents there expecting a great meal. It was average at best. Outback would have been a better time. The service was okay however I felt the food was overpriced.
