The Scene
The only Zanies in the Lake County area, this Vernon Hills offspring tries hard (billing-wise) to live up to its older cousin on Wells Street. Settle into one of the club's 300 comfortable seats and take in the philosophical messages on the walls: "I laugh, therefore, I am," and "Give me laughter, or give me death." That is as close as you will get to graffiti inside this squeaky-clean suburban club. And since it's tucked away in a shopping strip and surrounded by plenty of parking spaces, you won't have the hassle of parking in the city.
The Draw
Since it opened in 1992, big names have generated laughs here, including Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne and Eddie Murphy. A Wall of Fame displays 200 comedians across America, many of whom have appeared here, including "Saturday Night Live" alumnus Rich Hall and ABC "Coach" sitcom star Pam Stone.
