“Few Mexican Chicagoland restaurants will serve a good margarita straight-up, which, I believe is the only way to drink it.”
“Once more, I and my family enjoyed a fantastic meal at our favorite upscale Mexican restaurant: Hay Caramba!”
“Quite a few selections and all are delicious and authentic.”

“The service is friendly, but I do admit there is one server who is not as friendly as the others.”

It's Gone Downhill. I was quite disappointed the other night at my meal there. My enchalidas verdes (green tomatillo sauce) were EXTREMELY SOUR tasting.... not a good rendition of this sauce AT ALL. And the enchiladas themselves had very little filling. The refried beans were OK, but I remember them as being better. The real shock was when the bill came and I discovered they were charging me $10.50 for my very moderately sized marguarita. RIP OFF !!!
The Best Mexican Restaurant. WOW, I can't believe someone gave this restaurant 1 star. It's a big restaurant with an AWESOME atmosphere which is like being in a beautiful setting in Mexico. There's a separate bar area. The food is the BEST !! Quite a few selections and all are delicious and authentic. The service is friendly, but I do admit there is one server who is not as friendly as the others. The only other "complaint" I have is that a couple of the servers don't have the best English skills, so if you have a special request for your food or drink, make sure they understand, or talk to a manager. Oh, and by the way, the location is great too, 1/2 block south of the tracks in the downtown Park Ridge area. Street parking is available within a block of the restaurant. Honestly, check this place out. You can't do better.
Stay Away at All Costs. Horrible service, The margaritas didn't even have alcohol in them, Really bad food and small portions, cheezy atmosphere. The bathrooms were very nice, best part of the dining experience. I will never go back. Many much better mexican restaurants in the area. I fell sorry for the person that said they have been going here for 7 years!
Best Mexican food in Chicago area.. I have been going to Hay Caramba for over 7 years now. I honestly haven't found a Mexican restaurant that I love as much as this place in the Chicago area. The tacos are great, the rice and beans are wonderful and the Tamale's are my #1 favorite. The family operated business provides unbeatable friendliness and service. Prices are reasonable, good value. Also, try the fried ice cream if you're up for it...that is very good as well.
Margaritas. Few Mexican Chicagoland restaurants will serve a good margarita straight-up, which, I believe is the only way to drink it. Forget the slushy mush or even on the rocks, although it is a better choice. Hay Caramba is an exception. For a somewhat higher price than menu they will concoct the best, especially if you order the gold one. El Adobe (Warrenville) of old was my favorite, but it is no longer.
