Don't Use This Company. These people will lie to you and you will end up paying far more in charges then you are told in the beginning. Then they will show up on a Sunday evening at 8pm with two small guys to unload your stuff in the dark which will take 3 hours so that you make a really good impression on your new neighbors (dripping sarcasm here).

And when you try to resolve the issue you will be told that you are wrong and they will back pedal and rewrite history so that you are screwed.

DON'T USE THEM.

And I write this all over a pittance simply because of the way they treated me and spoke to me.

Golan's Holds Good Hostage. I cannot be emphatic enough in urging you NOT to use this company. The move was absolutely traumatic. I have moved a dozen times and NEVER had such an awful experience. They did an in-home estimate and then got our things on the truck, had my husband sign the "binding" contract and called us a week later from the road demanding almost $2000 because they said we were over the weight they estimated. Yes, they held our items hostage. I called to speak with several people, including the cokpany owner. He yelled at me and told me if I wanted to see my things agin, I would pay. Furthermore, theyv tried to insist that we pay in CASH so that we couldn't dispute the charges. Finally, my husband said, "Fine. keep it! We will NOT give you an additional $2000 in cash to get our things back." They relented about that but still demanded the credit card fee, which I DID dispute. When the crew then arrived, they began to insist again on cash payment before unloading the truck. I had to actually call the Dekalb County Police Department to get them to unload the truck! Clearly in the wrong and being instructed by the police that they couldn't force us to give them cash for OUR belongings when we hada signed contract indicating that they'd already been paid in full PLUS almost double, the crew guys decided they would unload the truck despite their boss's long-distance instructions. Then, they apologized to us and said how much they hated working for this company. The guy who was the helper (not the driver) was near tears and kept swearing (in Spanish) about how he was going to quit and wouldn't keep doing this to people.

We disputed the charges and Golan's took forever to respond. Then they sent a doctored invoice to Discover cards. We began to pursue this through the Illinois Attorney General but finally just gave up--even though the AG's office was very supportive--because it was such a time sink and we were moving to start new jobs and spending so much time on this nonsense. These folks DO NOT deserve to stay in business.

The exact date of drop-off may be slightly off as it's been awhile but they were definitely late. My in-laws were visiting and so apalled that THEY wrote letters to the AG and DOT. They even spoke with the drivers about their moral responsibilitties. That's how bad it was.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!There are too many decent companies out there to deal with these crooks!

Rude Movers. I recently used Golan's for the second time. My first experience was very good, however almost a year to the day later my second experience was horrible. From the minute the movers came they were rude to me and my family. They kept telling us that this move would take much longer than my last move because I had bought more furniture (which I hadn't) after a quick call to Golan's headquarters...their story quickly changed and they denied saying that the needed extra time. While they were rude and I felt they tried to take advantage of us, the worst part is they brought in one of my dressers with all the stuff contained in it dumped out and they lost an important religious artifact that they refused to take the blame for. While they were able to finish the move in a timely manner (thanks to me calling and complaining), the way I was treated by them was horrible and I would not use them again.

Never Again!. My girlfriend recommended this place and I could slap her now...lol. When I called to make my reservation I talked to Matt and questioned the reviews I had read because the majority of them were not good. He said "look we do a million moves a year there is bound to be some errors". Not so much what he said, but how he said it. I should have known at that time to not use them. I agree with others in that they raise the quote once they have your stuff. Also they charge you for rolls of tape that are not completely used. Only one guy out of 4 spoke English. I should have raised a stink but by the end of the move I was so damn mad and aggravated I let it go. But now I shall call the BBB and notify them. I would NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone. I still shake my head on how really awful they were.

DANGER, DENGER, DENGER. Golan's is awful. Do not let them (movers) touch your stoffs. They'll distroy everything, even your house, if you let them. Do not leave your stoffs in golan's storage. You will lose a lot of them, and the over stoffs you'll get back in very bad condition. PLEASE READ THIS MASSAGE BEFOR CALLING golan's. YOU'LL LOSE A LOT IF YOU GONNA CALL THEM
