The Scene – Owner Luisa Shortall's parents sold Italian imports, then just clothing, out of their Oak Street store in the 1960s. When Shortall's family moved La Colonna to Plaza del Lago in Wilmette, they began carrying more domestic designers. Despite its change in geographic focus, the store's Italian theme honors the history of the family business.
