Located in the Grove Theater, this Elgin restaurant is equal parts post-work watering hole, music venue and banquet location.

Character All Around
by goash at Citysearch
I live near Elgin so I end up going here a lot. I can't think of any place within fifty miles that is so full of character. It has this great big bar that reminds me of something in the movies. The dining room is really nice, a lot quieter than the bar. The biggest fireplace I've ever seen is in the middle of the dining room. Everytime I go I get good service. I'm hooked on the rigatoni mozzarella, it's delicious. If you're looking for good food, great beer and an awesome atmosphere give Prairie Rock a try, you won't regret it.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Great Bar
Major Disappointment
by sissie8 at Citysearch
What started out to be an exciting 50 mile drive to meet my fiancee"s parents and celebrate his 80th (fathers)birthday turned into a major dissapointment. None of us has ever visited the establisment before and would not reccommend it to others. Starting out was the waiter whom you could not hear him talk or even see his eyes because his hair was too long covering them. After taking our order for drinks he had to be reminded 15min. later to get them. Finally the manager had to get the coffee that was ordered in the beginning just before the meal ended. The steaks-very tough, not even close to being cooked properly, cold potatos, ( baked, augratin, yams). The Waiter had to be asked for sharp knifes, refill water glasses and more beverages ordered. After telling Management about it, he told us we were the first to ever complain since opening.
- Cons: , potato bar cold, loud hard to hear
