CHIPS OR NO CHIPS. ok - that one review that talks about the CHIPS AND whatever was a waste of a review - Don't speak unless you are informed. People's livelihood is at stake here and you're talking chips and how you were obviously confused??? what a joke. I do not work for nor do I know anyone that works or owns it. I know it's incredible and has an AWESOME reputation. As if Elgin was of old....Charming place with a cozy feel. I wish them well - chips or no chips. See you there!

amazing malts. i also love the chicken florentine; i ask for it with sunflower seeds, and extra cantelope instead of chips or fries. The soups are all really great too.

Every time i go to al's its a different experience, because the servers are all very unique, but they're also very good at what they do. The only bad time that i've ever had at al's was a result of being seated too close to another customer who had a child with a very repetative toy. That is the only reason that i'd avoid being seated upstairs.

Great Food, Acceptable Service. My first dining experience at Al's was above average. The food is excellent, as it is freshly prepared. The only complaint I have is that my sandwich (Roasted Turkey) was supposed to come with chips and fruit. When I placed my order, my waitress asked me if I wanted to upgrade the chips to french fries, and I declined. When my meal was served, there were no chips. Perhaps I read the menu incorrectly, but I thought it odd that the waitress said, "Roasted turkey, no chips" as she was serving the dishes. She also spoke too fast, so it was hard to understand her.
