This lounge attracts refined after-work crowds with a sleek style befitting its location in the cosmopolitan Sofitel Hotel. The Scene
This low-lit hotel bar is high-energy after work (especially Thursdays and Fridays), when business travelers mix with local lawyer types. An oversized clock represents time, and "Timeless Cocktails" play up the theme with names (translated from French) like "5:00 to 7:00," "After Midnight" and "35 Hours," signifying France's work-week. A block of six TV screens is more art than activity.

The Draw
With the average age closer to 31 than 21, this spot differs from typical Gold Coast bars. Eight tables surrounded by wide chairs attract those looking to gather and gab. If it's mingling you want, snag a stool at the bar. If you have to wait for a seat, head to the large couch-filled lobby nearby or the intimate "library" just in front of the bar, where a fireplace is flanked by two shelves filled with artsy coffee table books.

Great meeting place.. I love meeting my friends at Le Bar. The atmosphere is always great. The people who work there truly seem to enjoy it. The room is beautiful. Yummy bar snacks, too!

THE place to be. The CitySearch reviewer must have come right when the place opened, because it's quite impressive how GOOD the service considering how popular and packed the place can be. Between the clocks/time atomosphere, the starlit ceiling, the friendly staff and the hip music, this is my preferred place to be in Chicago. The staff is personable and skilled. The management is visible and friendly. When I was there, the manager went out of her way to find us a seat when it became available despite the fact she was obvioulsy being pulled in six different directions. Last time I was there, they'd just introduced appetizers and the ones I had were great! The only problem: now there's no reason to leave!!!
