In Short
This casual gourmet sandwich counter has an updated '50s look, with lots of cream tones and natural light. There's an outdoor patio and a cozy fireplace, but much of the business is takeout, with commuters grabbing a pastry or sandwich on their way to and from work. Look for fancy sandwiches like smoked trout on rye and smoked Gouda with avocado, plus gourmet salads, pastries, bagels, an espresso bar and more.

Milk and Honey is a cute neighborhood restaurant that serves up a decent brunch. I tend to get the granola pancakes and they have never failed me yet. My only complaint about the place is how it is set up. First, you wait in line to place an order. While you are in line the seating hostess puts your name on the list for a table. Then, inevitably, people are herded to the back of the restaurant and squeeze into a tiny space, waiting for their table to open up. They will not serve you your food during this time; not even coffee! The wait for a table isn't *too* long so it's bearable. Still, I wish this aspect wasn't part of the experience. Overall the food is worth it, if you're in the neighborhood.

Milk & Honey Cafe is an awesome restaurant in a great Chicago neighborhood. The atmosphere is great, warm and welcoming. I went to Milk and Honey with some friends for brunch on a Sunday Morning. It was really busy but worth the wait. We ordered before we were seated and once we were seated the food came right away. They are famous for their granola which is amazing. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my friend had the pancake special. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. The food is very reasonably priced and the proportions were large. They have a great menu full of unique sandwiches and a nice list of beer and wine. I am definitely going back and ordering lunch. Don't be turned away by a line, it moves quickly.

Great neighborhood spot for a quick sandwich. Consistent . . .but could we get more smiles with the service? How can you work in such a seemingly pleasant environment and not be more amicable?
