NEVER CONSIDER THIS PLACE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE.
I have friends of the family who are currently in a lawsuit with them because the one family member that stayed there for rehabilitation got maggots - yes, I said maggots - from a wound that was neglected on their watch. They quickly transferred him out of there.
Besides that horrible story, the place is dismal. Sure, take a tour, venture down the halls and look in the small, cheerless rooms. Go to the basement and look around - it's really dank and depressing.
I befriended a nurse while I was there visiting who confided in me about the alarming turnover of staff in the last year alone. The very qualified, caring and racially diverse staff (African American, Latino, Caucasion and Indian) quickly changed over the course of a year to almost 100% Filipino because the Director of Nursing is Filipino. Nepotism and racial profiling, anyone?
Why is that relevant to you? Because a constantly changing staff affects the care of your loved one - or, in the case of my family friend - LACK of care. WHO DOESN'T NOTICE MAGGOTS IN A WOUND? GROSS! VILE! I'll tell you who, nursing staff that is inconsistent in care and constantly changing.
Like the other reviewer said, run from this place!
From the Administrator.
It is most unfortunate someone would write something like this about our center. Community gives great care, promotes independence and if you ask the families and resident who live here they will tell you this is true.
The building has looks good because it is good. The patients don't lay outside for hours or we would be in trouble with the state, that is not even logical.
Tour the center, come see me and I will give the tour personally.
This must be a disgrutled employee writing on the internet to create a problem or feel this is the way to retaliate.
I was never made aware of any of the concerns listed, and each day we meet as a team to discuss any concerns we hear of.
Come and take a look at us, the truth is in the tour and you will find the place to lovely, and the care to be exceptional!
Larry Banks, Administrator
Run from this place!.
Let me make this clear that the only reason this place got two stars is because of the Aides and a few select RNs.
WARNING: DO NOT LET LOOKS DECEIVE YOU HERE.
This place was recently remodeled, and looks nice. It has a media room, but the computers rarely work, and the books are cast offs from someones basement. There are thousands of puzzles that no one uses though. So I guess if you like that sorta thing and don't mind being miserable otherwise, this place is for you.
The rooms are way to small, so dont plan on visiting comfortably ever.
The food is equivalent to what I imagine they serve in prison. So plan on bringing meals in from outside.
Oh they also give diabetics desserts that are NOT sugar free, because the guy in the kitchen im guessing isnt the brightest.
Twice in the past month patients have gone outside, fallen out of their wheelchairs and left there to lay until someone found them hours later.
No joke!
They are severly understaffed. The staff that has held on and hasnt left out of frustration and poor treatment is overworked and underpaided.
Because they dont have enough workers more then likely unless you are dying you are not a priority.
This will lead to bed sores, pain, hunger, ect. Its also borderline neglectful. So be prepared.
If I could have done it all over again, I would have gone somewhere else. Honestly, somebody needs to shut this place down!
