Terrible Ethics (previous employee)

by PrevMandRemployee at Citysearch

I worked for M&R for about 6 months, during that time they never were even able to get me an actual uniform to wear. I had to wear my own clothes from home. As soon as i started I was informed (by my roommate who also worked for them) that the building had recently been broken into and that many techs tools had been stolen and tool box's heavily vandalized. After I served my time there I left and discovered that they never did organize the insurance information to reimburse the two techs for their tools and tool boxes. This is just a breif look from the inside. They also do everything they can to scour any extra pennies the customer may have by issuing unneeded work....... One example before i leave... A Porsche came in the door one day for an hood that was "hard to open". I personally took a look at it and it had opened just fine the first, second, and third time. I then informed Mike Jr. that the issue was "not duplicatable". He said "Okay, mark down 2 hours diagnostic on the Repair Order". I rolled my eyes but did anyway cuz they were writing my check at the time. I later got a peek at the invoice and saw that they had charged 2 hours diagnostic, 1.5 hours labor, and $ for parts on a new hood latch that had never been installed......

  • Pros: hmmmm....

Very decieving

by sunny days at Citysearch

I have to say that honestly all of these reviews that I have read about this place truely scared me. I have been looking for a shop to service my BMW for over a year and a half now, due to the fact that the dealership became too expensive and quite a bit inconvienient for me. I googled shops around the 60614 zip code and found this business. Upon reading these reviews I will admit that I thought that maybe these guys were a bunch of scam artists that ripped people off at every chance they got. The analogy to them having one hand on your shoulder and the other in your pocket gave me a strong image that truly made me think twice about taking my vehicle to this shop. The risk taker in me decided to give them a shot. They are 10 minutes away from my home, a small shop so i assumed that there had to be something good about them. Upon walking in the front door I was taken aback.......

I was greeted by the service advisor, Patty i believe her name is. She greeted me politely and promplty wrote up my concerns and my vehicle's information. It took her a little bit longer then the dealership would have taken, but nonetheless the experience felt more personal. She got me to sign off on 2 hours of labor to diagnose my vehicle, which i thought at first was a little bit excessive, but well my Bimmer had issues and we needed to get to the bottom of it. Little did i know, that the 2 hours i had authorized really were not as much as I thought, because the amount of work that they put into diagnosing my issues was way greater. They took pictures of every issue, even taking a shot of a bulb socket that was melted. They were very specific in everyone of their findings and even provided me with a Hertz rental car. They said that they would only cover one day, but ended up covering 3 because of a special order part that was needed. Mike Sr. was even kind enough to give me 3 free oil changes for future visits, which made me feel great after spending $2,500. No other place would have done this for their first time customer.

So i just wanted to tak a second to say that on this website a few of these reviews can be decieving. Most of the people who write these reviews have had bad experiences, but they need not spoil it for everyone else. Had i have listened to the people on this website i would have missed out on developing a great relationship with a good bunch of people. My hats off to Patty, Mike Sr., and the whole gang!

Never take your car to M&R!

by truthispainful at Citysearch

This family reminds me of folks who pat you on the back with one hand while the other hand is firmly entrenched in your pocket. When you enter they see a dollar sign. They charge for an estimate, overcharge for labor, and add 50% to the cost of parts. The mechanics are inexperienced and do not speak English so you'll never talk to the man who actually worked on your car. Who you will talk to is Mike Jr., a duplicitas character who has been caught more than once joy riding in customer cars. His specialty is selling future repairs not needed. In this place of universal deceit the truth is a revolutionary act! I also have it on inside information they write some of their own reviews. Steer clear of this shop and don't let them rip you off! It's a safe bet you can get your vehicle repaired better and cheaper anywhere in or around the Chicago area.
