he made me uncomfortable
by clairezulkey at Citysearch
I don't consider myself a sensitive person but during my routine appointment with Dr. Lazar he mentioned envisioning what my bare butt looks like, me being unclothed, me keeping my legs crossed as a birth control measure and people looking at me on the street. I don't think he had any bad intentions but I definitely felt weird during the appointment and won't be going back.
- Pros: quick appointment
- Cons: inappropriate
Superb care from the top of his field
by bobcee at Citysearch
My experience as Dr. Lazar's patient have been exceptionally wonderful. Despite the reasons for my visits being a little on the scarier side, Dr. Lazar was extremely professional, helpful, caring and demonstrated his knowledge of the field. He is a leader in the dermatological field and his expertise is mirrored in his care as a physician. He provides me and my family with excellent care and attentiveness. Unlike many doctors, he understands that dermatology isn't solely about the cosmetic procedures and has made sure to ensure the health of my family. I'd recommend him to anyone.
- Pros: No nurses, you actually see the doctor! Minimal waiting time, top of his field
- Cons: Not a large variety of magazine choices in the waiting room
No Thanks To Dr. Lazar

I went to Dr. Lazar because my mother had battled melanoma for years. I recently lost my mother to this horrible disease. My first impression was the rude receptionist/nurse (who knows what she was). She was probably the most undignified person I have ever encountered. It only got worse with Dr. Lazar. Because of my family history, I should be scanned thoroughly over my body once per year. When I went in to see him, he not only was as rude and unprofessional as his receptionist, but he could have cared less that I had a high chance of melanoma and only asked me what spots I wanted looked at. Then he proceeded to tell me that the moles on my back would be for my husband to watch and in his words "if you know what I mean...". I was not only disgusted at his lack of concern for my history, but for his sexual innuendo. It took over a week for him to get my results back to me.
At that point, he then told me that one of my moles was "atypical" and possible stage 1 melanoma. He quickly got off the phone with me. I was so upset and concerned I called back and asked for more details. He then said "no no, I never said that, it is just atypical and precancerous". Totally different than what he had said before. I then had my records sent over to my mothers oncologist to let me know what was really happening and was told it was nothing to worry about.
I was so angry that he had scared me like that and never took the time to care about my health.
I have since moved my business over to Dr. Meyer Horn and have never been happier!
- Pros: None
- Cons: The entire experience, he was rude, ignorant, and unprofessional.
