Favorite Thai Spot. I've been eating Thai food in Chicago since 1989, and have tried at least a dozen different places throughout the city. Tiparos is by far my favorite in all respects.

Their typical Thai dishes are top notch, (I've thoroughly enjoyed all of their curries, especially green curry chicken and their very rich panang beef, Their home-made peanut sauce and satay chicken are also fantastic.)

In addition to great Thai fare, they offer a broad selection of somewhat Americanized Chinese dishes like almond beef with straw mushrooms, most of which are better than I've had in Chinatown. I greatly appreciate that they do not over-sweeten as so many Thai and pan-Asian restaurants do to appeal to a broader audience.

Tiparos has also had a full sushi bar for the past couple years, and I've been impressed with the flavor, freshness and creative presentation of their nigiri and roll sushi and sashimi, some of which is ludicrously reasonably priced, (they have enormous spicy crunchy tuna rolls for $6!)

My "Puerco Pibil" Thai dish, Tom Ka Kai chicken/galanga/coconut milk soup, is the best I've had (refer to the opening scene of "The

Mexican" where Johnny Depp shoots the cook for shifting the puerco pibil paradigm.) It's hearty with plenty of galanga root, chicken, lemon grass, straw mushrooms & dried peppers-- I often make a meal of it, whereas at many Thai restaurants this dish is but a thin broth.

Not just me, (I'm a regular,) but anyone I see walk in is treated as an honored guest. Even people who are waiting for takeout are treated like royalty-- seated and served water while they wait. Service as a

dine-in guest, both inside and outside during the Summer, has been quick, respectful and attentive. I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 minutes, even when they were quite busy, for take-out I've ordered as a walk-in, and my call-in orders are always perfect, and usually ready by the time I get there.

While I can't say I'm transported to Thailand when I walk through the door, the decor is quite tasteful, the atmosphere relaxed, and most of their thoughtful staff appear to be Thai.

I've only drank there a few times, so I can't speak to the caliber of their cocktails, but they do have a full liquor bar, a decent beer selection including Singha, a short wine list, and several excellent varieties of Sake to choose from.

There is one quirk to be aware of: They charge for rice as a side, ($1 for white rice, $2 for brown), but all things considered, for Thai, Chinese or Sushi of this caliber, Tiparos is an unbeatable bargain, and we're quite lucky to have them in the neighborhood.

Tiparos has a sweet pad.. The pad see eiu at Tiparos opened my eyes to a whole new genre of tastes. I've always had a pretty diverse palate, but after trying this dish I started appreciating not just the taste of food, but the experience of meals. From the diverse, well-prepared cuisine and menu with something for everyone to the polite and friendly staff and clean, comfortable amenities, Tiparos has not once disappointed me in the last three years I've been a loyal customer. Whether dining in, taking out, or having it delivered, the portion sizes are generous and yet still never feel like enough. It's disappointing to have a finite appetite.

We may never have met, but if you were my friend I'd make a strong push for you to go try this restaurant.

Amazing Potstickers!. Today was the first time that I ordered from this restaurant. I wasn't sure of what to try, and one of my friends recommended the potstickers. I must say, they didn't disappoint. The main course of Pad See Eiw was quite delicious as well. I really enjoyed eating here, and will definately be back.

What an experience!. So me and girlfriend decided to try this place out for valentine day and i must say...we were extremely happy! Beside for the fact that their "mild curry" dish was extremely bland with a hint of ginger, everything else we ordered was awesome. their peanut sauce is to die for and their beef satay is delicious. for almost 13 dollars, you get a full plate of 5 different appetizers and their entrees are priced really well. I saw a comment about their pad Thai being bland and i have to totally disagree! The cook that day must have been a fill-in or something because the pad Thai today was great. We also tried the coconut bubble tea and the Thai iced tea which were both great! because the place isn't huge, the server is always near and ready to take a request. i was never thirsty and never had to wait more than a minute to ask a question or make a request. i plan on returning very soon with a group of friends...that's how good it was and I'm very picky when it comes to the taste of my food being that i use to cook in a restaurant. i definitely give this place an "A" when it comes to being an all around place to grab some good Thai food.

Not the best Thai. This place is no big deal. It is better than Penny's & Thai Aroma- but that is not saying much. The last time I ordered I thought it was on the bland side. Seems like the food is more American than actual Thai.

tasteless pad thai. I had the worst pad thai here today, it was totally tasteless. I do not recommend it to anybody to have pad thai here. Can`t complain about the service or the ambiance.

Pretty good. I recently went here after hearing that it was rated the best in Chicago on Citysearch. I thought it was pretty good, I loved the crab rangoon. My mom's chicken satay was brought out cold, but after she asked them to heat it she said it was much better. I got the pad thai it was good too. The atmosphere was very nice, the restaurant was very clean. I would go here again.

Great for business entertaining, family fun, relaxing evenings. The food and service are very consistent and reliable. Great for lunch - Tiparos is animated and very friendly. At night, when the lights go down, it's elegant and quiet. The newly added sushi bar means that we now have 2 restaurants and menus for the price of one in our 'hood. The most reliable and delicious restaurant in Old Town/Streeterville

Best Thai, And the Sushi Rocks Too!. This is by far my favorite Thai place in Chicago. The food is very good, generous portions, the service is very attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and open. The proprietor always comes to our table and makes sure that everything is perfect. However, the coolest new thing at Tiparos is the sushi. Normally I don't eat sushi from restaurants that aren't specifically sushi places, but you have got to try it here. This is the best sushi I have had in months. Try the spider maki / sweet potato maki, and the sashimi is super fresh. Ask for extra unagi (sp?) sauce! Awesome meal every time.

Best Thai food in Chicago....second to none!. If you are looking for a place to begin a romatic evening out or just dinner with friends, Tiparos is the place for you. The food is never disappointing, it is always served with beautiful color and exsquisite flavors. The portions are perfect, you never walk away dissatisfied!!

The waitstaff is very courteous and always go out of there way to make my dining experience

worth my trip, I come all the way out from Elgin, IL. There is no place like it anywhere.

With the comfortable atmosphere set by it's beautiful decor, it's a place you can spend your time in and enjoy great conversation, great food, and great drinks. Just like every dining experience should be like.
