Tips for A A Calabrese Heating Cooling

December 10, 2012

I have been searching for a service repair company to repair my furnace that stopped working. I searched for a company local because I wanted someone close and I wanted to keep business in my community. I did a search on Google and came across several companies to call. The first company I called would not be able to come out till the next day and they wanted $120 service call. The second company I call basically was the same thing, time frame and cost. Then I called Calabrese Heating, I found a company that was able to come out with-in two hours or less and they where much cheaper for there service call fee of $80. Well It was glad to have found a service company to come out not just the same day but with-in two hours and at a less expense. They arrived with-in a hour. The service man came to my door prepared to service my furnace with shoe booties he put over his boots when he entered. I have a basic knowledge of my furnace unit and had explained the trouble I was experiencing. The service man, Phil was able to find the trouble quickly and quoted me a price to repair it. The problem was the same problem that I had less than a year and a half ago. The company that came out before was Four Seasons and they really stuck it to me. $410 with a 90 day warrantee besides that they tried to sell me a new furnace. Well the price that Calabrese Heating quoted was $230 with a 2 year warrantee as he explained that's the warrantee they give on all there repairs. Phil spent time explaining some of the troubles I have with my return and supplied air. A problem which no heating company has ever noticed. I can go on and on about my wonderful experience with Calabrese Heating (Phil) He made me fell like I was talking with my son. What a pleasant person very articulate and explanatory. I would recommend this company to anyone I know. I give Calabrese Heating the highest rating. And reading through some of the other reviews that where negative, they must be speaking of a different company and person. Thank you Phil and god bless!

"5 STARS SERVICE" This last week it became apparent that I had to purchase my first furnace as my 25+ year old unit died. I called out several companies to give me a free in home estimate and one stood out above the rest to the point that I wanted to share my experience with others. The experience with Calabrese Heating & Cooling from start to finish was easy, pleasant and pain free, outstanding. From my intital conversation with the person that set up my appointment, to the consultant arriving on time and taking his time going over the best options for my home, (very low key, no pressure presentation, let me decide what I wanted when I wanted it, thanks Phil!!!!) to the installers that were outstanding. They explained everything to me including how to use the new thermostat and as promised my basement area was cleaner when they were finished then when they arrived. I know my air conditioner will go next, hopefully not for a number of years but when its time for me to purchase my first air conditioner there's only one company I'll call, CALABRESE HEATING & COOLING

POSITIVE REVIEW. I'm writing this review and taking the time to do so. I have read the reviews for this company and being that the positive outweighed the negative I thought I'd call and being a good judge of character feel out this company.

I have to say I was impressed. The man who answered the phone was the owner / serviceman, Phil. Being that I had called several companies which could not come out the same day before calling Calabrese Mechanical I was frustrated.

Phil had asked what was the problem. I explained the issues and what seemed to be going on. Phil explained that it might be a simple fix and explained several things to check before him coming out.

I have to say I was impressed that he tried to help over the phone to avoid me having to spend any money. non the less he had to come out and what a family like feeling I got from his personality not to mention his knowledge of what was wrong but the ability to put it into la-mens terms for me.

He had to clean a flame detector and it was fine, my furnace was fixed. I was just charged his service fee of $80 and he also cleaned the furnace filter.

He also asked if I'd like to be put on a service call reminder list which we will receive a discounted service reminder for the seasons service via our email. I also received a thank you card in the mail from the boss, his wife Grace! Also asking in the card to rate or review the company.

ps: So here you have it.

What a fine experience I had, and any of the negative reviews I'd read where null & void. I would refer this company to my church if they needed a service company. Thank you for such a pleasant surprise.

The Best personal experience When it was warm last week we tried to turn our air conditioner on and it did not work. We called these guys and they had a service tech person out within the hour. He had our air conditioning system up and running within 40 minutes and he even took a peek at our furnace to make sure everything was OK. (for free) Highly Recommended!!

"Un" professional. I contacted A a Calabrese Heating & Cooling yesterday evening due to a leak in our vents, causing carbon minoxide to seep out into our home.

We we're scheduled for an appointment with Tony this morning at 8:30am sharp.

We awoke early and took the morning off to make sure we had our problem resolved.

9:30, and still no Tony; not to mention not even a phone call!

We called and left several messages with the company and on Tony's cell; and at around 10:00am, Tony finally picked up. He told us that he would be late (very courtious I may add). I asked how long it would be, being I had only taken the morning off. He told me that he should be at our home within 10minutes; though then asking for our address and directions; in which he was given yesterday evening. It has been yet 45 minutes, and still no Tony; nor any kind/type of phone call.

I contacted this company due to the rave review's; however have learned since that these review's are those of the employees of A a Calabrese Heating & Cooling using each own's email to create an account and place wonderful facts and review's about the company they work for.

This is a little known/old trick most companies will use; being I own my own.

Truly Unprofessional. My experience with this company indicated lack professionalism on their end. I placed a phone call to Calabrese today in order to understand the services provided during a furnace maintenance call. I feel compelled to share my experiences since Google reviews were positive overall.

The gentleman that answered the phone was using a speaker phone with poor reception. When I asked him if he would remove the conversation from speaker or speak a bit louder, he explained that he did not have a handset on his phone. (wow!) I then asked the question "What services are provided during a regular maintenance call?" He responded with "Are you located near our office?" I responded yes and he asked when they could come out to do maintenance. My response was "Within the next week or two but before I schedule an appointment, I would like to understand the services provided during a maintenance call." He abruptly responded with "we are no longer taking new customers." I do not consider this behavior professional and would not expect their behavior to be much different during a service call. He was clearly concerned more about scheduling and appointment to guarantee income, vs. educating/selling his services. The behavior is also consistent with the review from the customer titled "No Show". Buyers Beware!

True professional. Saturday afternoon, 2 pm no heat. What are the odds of finding someone the same day, with parts, to fix electronic furnace of a specific brand? Apparently, with the help of Citysearch, very good.

Called Mr. Calabrese out of the blue, came within a couple of hours, diagnosed the problem within minutes, fixed it, checked the rest of the furnace just to make sure everything was working properly.

Saturday afternoon, 5pm, there is heat in the apartment...2 stickers with Mr. Calabrese's phone number firmly attached to a furnace and a boiler...wishing all of life was that easy.

Prompt, courteous and professional. Recommended. Repairman diagnosed the problem quickly and drove all around the city to find a hard-to-find part. Great service!
